The Nine Inch Nails & Boys Noize album that dropped this year is EATING. It's live, and the sound quality is fantastic. I needed something to motivate me while I design stuff, and this has a bunch of the favourites but with extra sonic oomph.
I want to talk about what a spectacular sonic assault of atmospheric dread this soundtrack inflicts upon you. Ben Frost is a genius, and if you've yet to watch Dark in its entirety, then please do. Be patient. Soak in the slow burn of the unknown and tragedy.
Another album I feel deserves more love. This film is gloriously post-modern and although the story is tragic, it references so much of the music and culture that I grew up with. Also, Ewan McGregor's and Nicole Kidman's performances are simply [chef's kiss]
This is one of the most underrated albums I've known of for years. An old friend introduced me to the OST for Martin Scorsese's film The Last Temptation of Christ (which I refuse to watch) but the OST EATS.
When I was a wee sprite, I was OBSESSED with this album. I still enjoy trotting it out from time to time. It's a prime example of Orientalism in Western media, but yeah ... good memories.
I'm FURIOUS. I spent HOURS designing the look for The Splintered Fool. I only work with Daniël Hugo whose anti-AI stance is strong. Only to have some little mouthbreather come at me.

A post on Threads reminded me of this painting entitled The Crying Boy by Giovanni Bragolin that many of the Afrikaans people in our community had on their walls. It even had the tears picked out in gloss varnish.
I have had such a dizzy year so far that bled over from last year that I realise I never completed my book bingo sheet - this means I can now purchase another book off my wish list.
