I write about London recording studios, the people who worked there and the music they made: willyoumeetmeonclareisland.wordpress.com Spurs; Woking FC; Red Sox; Big Big Train; Danny Camp, Frost*; live for live music.
A lovely chat on the phone with my famous brother, today. We were comparing war wounds and battle scars. It was so good to catch up.
12 days, 4 cannulas, litres of infusions and a thousand needles later, I’m home. It feels so good.
I've felt quite unwell this past 2 weeks, since Chemo 5.1. A distant headache, a constant feeling that dizziness is just a sudden movement away, and the bastard, never-ending nausea that is the centre of my life. So a bit of normal shit; coffee with @jaybee2801, is so precious.
We went to the Hand & Flowers for a drink with Janet’s sister and her husband, yesterday. It was so great to see them, (it’s been 5 months,) and our friends at The Hand. It was good getting dressed up a bit too; that hasn’t happened since January. A tiny bit of normal life.
My guardian angel, waiting for the sun to set on Borth beach. I love this photo.
Well that was good! Our meeting with Dr. Booth and Rachel, following Saturday’s scan, was nothing but good news. The scan showed no new issues and the physical exam showed no new lumps, 'in all the right places.' So, the treatment is working. That’s all I need to know.
Chemo Day 3.2 One bag of anti-sickness and one bag of Bendamustine. #fuckcancer
Since we can’t visit our favourite restaurants while I’m on chemotherapy, we’ll just have to have our nights out at home. Cheers everyone 🥂🍾💚❤️ #ArmourOn
A Sunday morning tale. The song has always intrigued me but it was someone at Abbey Road, just last weekend, who provided the final piece of the puzzle: Oh, and the teenage sweethearts, Chris and Joan, who first met at the age of 17, are still together.
The lineup for the 1967 Jazz & Blues Festival at Windsor; famous for seeing the debut of Fleetwood Mac. Someone commented how much guitar talent was on show so… Well, I love a challenge.
@robbiemcintosh.bsky.social and his stellar band currently blowing up a storm @soundloungecio.bsky.social #guitarnerds
Today, it is 25 years since this gorgeous woman said ‘I do,’ and we got married. She is my rock, my forever girl and my best friend. We’ve had some amazing adventures together; and there’s plenty more still to come. Happy 25th anniversary, JB. I love you to bits @jaybee2801
A priceless evening with a musical hero. A showing of the film The Immediate Family plus a Q&A by David Hepworth, with Lee Sklar. It’s a brilliant film, full of love and warmth, and is on a streaming platform right now. Lee is the most humble, sweet guy who has time for everyone. A great night.
In all of the excitement of today I forgot to post this. I’m not one for pride about things I’ve done but I couldn’t be more proud of myself for this. Day 1,095. Three years.
However, the day could have thrown up anything and Janet wouldn’t have cared. Just after we arrived, her favourite ever Arsenal player, Manu Petit, walked through the door. I grabbed him before it got busy and he was so wonderful with her.
A fantastic night @TheJazzCafe with @TheHangingStars. Sid Griffin was on the bill too so I finally got to see him. The band made a great noise and built a terrific setlist to wow a packed audience. Definitely a band on the up.
@dannythechamp.bsky.social This is a handy guide, Danny. The bit of software it suggests is very good at finding who you follow on Twitter.
A terrific night with Jason Isbell and his great band at London’s Hammy O. A strong setlist, enthusiastic crowd and good sound made for a memorable night.
My review of last night’s fantastic London return by Bonny Light Horseman is up on The Afterword site. theafterword.co.uk/bonny-light-...
Two of the songs ‘wot my brother wrote’ are answers on Pointless. The question is ‘acts that followed up a No.1 with a No.2.’
This handy guide seems to be helping new arrivals so I’ll keep sharing it. The Find Your Friends software works a treat; even I found it easy!
