Bottom left shredded carrot and spring onion. Middle left fresh baby spinach. Top left cucumber slivers. Top middle, black wood ear mushroom with dressing. Top right, tangy mirin dressing with chili flakes. Bottom right are cut nori rolls with shiitake mushroom and polenta instead of rice, because polenta is a lot more nutritious than white rice.

Raymond has been creating natural inks from material he forages in the forest, some hocus-pocus, and the sun! He made me a set of six colours so far and we tested them on watercolour paper today. These can be used for painting or to dye wool or fabrics.

I found a bit of treasure at the vintage store yesterday! This will be used as a flower vase.

Beautiful ornate jug in the style that was had in the 1800's. It's white with a big handle and will serve as a vase.

I baked a cheesecake-inspired treat but protein-rich, without the sugar or gluten. This one is not plantbased, it's made with low fat quark, eggs, a bit of sweetener of your choice, grated lemon rind, corn starch, and blueberries. Mix it all up, bake, cool, and chill a few hours.

Earlier today at our garden centre.

Small pots of cactus all lined up in trays at the garden centre. Someone has put googly eyes on all the cactus plants so they look as if they have faces and are looking at you.

Butterflies visited today! Raymond and I were on our way out and more than 20 greeted us in the garden and around the trees, they've come to feast on ripe figs. #GardeningFeed.

Above that our pergola with grape vines all over it, pear tree with pears, and in the background our fig full of ripe figs, There are butterflies in the picture somewhere, but because they're smaller it's too difficult to spot them. But there were about 20 flying around the trees and garden!

Remember a few weeks ago I bought a dragonfruit at the market and scraped out some seeds and planted them? It was time to put seedlings into little pots today! These are all tiny dragonfruit cactus.

Raymond was in the forest today and foraged me some ‘ringlovi’! Prunus cerasifera, or cherry plum in English. These are sweet and delicious!

Last week Raymond drove half way across the country to pick up this beautiful vintage vitrine for me after finding it as a giveaway online! He cleaned it up and painted the inside white so that I could have my very own crafting cupboard right next to my desk.

Earlier this week Raymond picked this vintage vitrine up for me half way across the country and now he is busy painting the inner part white. It needs one more coat tomorrow and then it will become my crafting storage!

Today’s crafting adventure was to sew drawstring bags for some of Raymond’s hand-carved wooden spoons! Sometimes people ask him to carve them a utensil and then I sew a bag to send it in.

The small flowers I picked and pressed last month in France turned out nicely. These are from the garden in Cavron-Saint-Martin.

We went fan shopping this morning because the heat is highly unpleasant here at the moment. The best find was the ceiling fan which has excellent settings and reverses for the winter. It can simulate an outdoor breeze, has different shades of light, and colours. 5 stars, can recommend.

There is an OnlyFans joke here somewhere. Raymond and I bought all sorts of fans this morning to combat the current heatwave which is not ending any time soon.
