SPOILERS (lol it's only ~2,700 years old but hey just in case) Lots of people die in the Odyssey. Here's how Odysseus' crew declines over time, and how they all died 📊 www.theguardian.com/news/ng-inte...
like, maybe if the greens weren't in Grayndler then this would make sense to try and push Albo further left but the Greens *are* already in Grayndler and as far as I'm aware they're pretty keen on gas tax, stricter laws on gambling, and stronger action against Israel so I dunno
they're probably turning away from seasonal tourism jobs because they're still stuck up mountains idk
i googled "gen z" to get the age range (btw the concept of generations are all bullshit) and the headlines box is deeply funny
after reading this horrific story I have designed a new type of travel pillow which will also prevent you from being sucked out the window of a plane
Off to start a culture war on X about how Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet is not historically accurate
it cannot be emphasised enough how stupid this whole debate is. every time any politician is pushed to describe what they actually want Australia to be like if not 'multicultural', they end up describing what the vast majority of us would understand as 'multiculturalism'
Switzerland reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup for the first time since 1954 by beating Colombia 4-3 on penalties. Here's how they did it!
David beats Goliath: the biggest upsets of the World Cup so far (finished this just in time so I don't need to find room when Bosnia & Herzegovina destroys the US) 📊
I am prepared to bet a crisp 10 dollar note that channel 7's AI thing will indeed hallucinate something, somewhere, if it is LLM-based. It's literally just how the models work.
this column spends 720 words without mentioning One Nation or the Teals and imo it's pretty weird to just write all those words like it's 2013 or something, like the Coalition can win an election talking about Labor www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...
I'm not going to run this on site because I reckon it's too hard to read (datawrapper can't do axis labels??!!), but basically there are a bunch of situations where you're actually better off with the new CGT discount
every time someone saying says rents will go up because of landlords leaving the market
Teals forming a party would solve their issues with new donations laws to a certain degree, since they may then leverage multiple state branches, nominated entities etc. Our analysis in 2024 showed them to be the most disadvantaged by new laws* next to Clive www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...
how did the ABC obtain this footage of my 2010s inner west share house?!?! www.abc.net.au/news/2026-05...
honestly we're probably at the stage where paid publication (in news, fiction, etc) should require authors to provide their working files with history of changes (eg track changes, google docs history, various timestamped files, photos of notebooks etc). it won't www.theguardian.com/books/2026/m...
look we've probably had the same issue in our reporting, but it'd be great to try and get this right. the government is not removing the GCT discount, it is changing the way the CGT discount is calculated
also there are situations (eg units, lower growth stocks etc) where the new CGT discount can actually result in you paying *less* tax than the old scheme - you can explore with our handy calculator
I made a comic about CAPITAL GAINS TAX DISCOUNTS because the changes are COMPLICATED www.theguardian.com/news/2026/ma...
I dunno man One Nation seem far, far more likely to do well in Coalition-held areas where they already have a higher primary vote (eg QLD - wright, capricornia, etc WA - canning, o'connor) than in Western Sydney. Willing to entertain arguments why I'm wrong though
so @joshnicholas.com and I share a byline often, but his last name is my first name, and it is a constant struggle for my brain not to merge it into one mega byline 'Josh Nicholas Evershed' lol
