Why be conciliatory when you can double down in the cattiest way possible?
Thank you @jessothomson.co.uk for this bc I made this very mistake. I'm sure I read somewhere respectable that the period included the recess, and this comment is the only place I've managed to find this fact outside of Hansard. We need better reporting hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2026...
If I'm reading this correctly, while the headings mainly talk about "conversion practices" in broad terms, the bill actually distinguishes between conversion practices and "abusive conversion practices" with the specific intention of outlawing the latter *while saying nothing on the former*.

Curse this scaffolding outside my window, which has already claimed my (3 weeks lost) impulsive cat, and now threatens to take my stupid one too
These came in the post today, and will be going on to friends shortly!
I also did a cursory search for antigender stuff throughout and didn't spot any except a statement in no. 141 that could be an oblique reference to online social contagion stuff.
Finally vindicated by Pope Leo, who also reads Evangelii Gaudium as a social document (image 1) even though it says otherwise in the Exhortation itself (image 2) www.vatican.va/content/leo-...
More single sex stuff - we can be excluded from services for our asab if it's a proportionate means to a legitimate aim

I got to hang out with the incredible @rhizomaticmoss.bsky.social today and hear about his cool new project on metanoia and belonging. You can find out more about his work here www.ourcollectivebecoming.com
Doing that find my politics thing and being reminded how dubious these quizzes are. Like, these are two entirely distinct statement bundled together as a single question that only makes sense as a signifier of identity specifically within a US context

The article, written by Catholic psych Paul McHugh, better known for closing down the Johns Hopkins GIC & being cited everywhere by transphobic Catholics who want to fake engagement with peer-reviewed research (esp his 'Special Report' in The New Atlantis) www.thepublicdiscourse.com/2015/06/15145/
R.e. the Courage response to the Group 9 Report: Courage claim they don't endorse conversion therapy. This is a straightforward lie insofar as they *explicitly* endorse conversion therapy for trans ppl. See this extract below from their handbook, & the article it cites couragerc.org/2020-handboo...

Our dearly beloved cat is missing! If this somehow reaches anyone in the E11 area, please keep an eye out for her!
Truly great writing going on at LGB Christians* *transphobic org fronting as a gay Christian group, whose page I'm not going to share but you can google them if you really want
Congratulations to the mysterious woman who gives out my phone number instead of her own, who may be getting married!

Honestly things are so chaotic now it's kinda hard to call it. But there is also hope in that even more politically conservative priests worry about the direction the administration is taking - suggesting that dissatisfaction with contemporary conservativism is actually a bipartisan issue
This is mirrored in more general political sensibilities. I've seen this interpreted as the failure or death of Liberal Catholicism. But what it arguably actually shows is how John Paul II changed the culture in the Church catholicproject.catholic.edu/wp-content/u...
