Digital dramaturg, post-pandemic digital theatre researcher, sci-fi writer, performer, director, and dramaturg. She/her. More sarcastic than anyone you'll meet.
I check DoesTheDogDie pretty often before watching movies, but I just clocked this category today and ... you know what? Fair enough, this is triggering.
Now impossible for me to leave yet also very painful to reach the keyboard.
I am desperate for Reviewer 1 to love me. But also, I'm done with this draft on time and under word count! Good for me.
Silk Fire by Zabé Ellor In a total world city with reversed gender politics, dead gods, and limited magic, a male courtesan overcomes whiny politics & family strife to defeat death magic & bring brightness back. There's no suspense and Star Trek did the gender politics thing better.
Testing AI's academic usefulness is fast becoming one of my areas of expertise, & today, Google dangled "Scholar Labs" at me, so I threw a pretty intense research question at it. It did ... okay! At an answer! But use your other research skills, like looking at an author's reference list, first.
My deeply loved retired football player of a cat, Frisco. I had to rehome him in 2020 when I moved but he stayed with my ex, whom he loved more than me anyway. Passed in 2023, being snuggled in a lap on the couch which was his favourite thing (besides eating cheese).
It is National Cat Day and I may be in a different nation, but I have a good cat.
Hey Trumpet of Patriots, I *am* an immigrant, which means 1) I do not want you to lower immigration by 80%, that directly harms me, and 2) as an Aussie immigrant, I cannot vote in this country. You fully wasted your effort.
We are also proud recipients of an Adelaide Fringe Fund grant specifically to pay in-person, live human performers. <3
I finally get to combine my love of practice-led research, digital theatre, and fringe festivals into one glob of a good time. If you're in the Adelaide area, let me experiment on you, I mean please come watch our show! adelaidefringe.com.au/fringetix/we...
My (slightly less than) monthly (always free!) Substack is out - and it'll probably be my last for a while, as I have, you know, other academic writing I have to switch to. Multi-Faceted Digitally Native Liveness! giantnerdproductions.substack.com/p/multi-face...
It's that time of the month - time for my (always free!) Substack to come out. I got pretty excited by digital archives in October because timezones are hard and sometimes I forget when exactly I got tickets to watch an online theatre show.
My (always free) Substack this month ponders the mysteries of interactive performance and how to keep the audience's mind engaged when it shifts to a static, linear format. giantnerdproductions.substack.com/p/translatin...
