More fool me I guess, but I did not expect a panel about the character-writing of Doni Doki Literature Club to have THIS kind of line 30 min before it’s even supposed to start
4-ish months with Mersey! Things that startle her: - a soda/beer can being opened - when we move too fast - the laundry hamper - me carrying anything bigger than a purse through the hall Fun stuff: - she is so voluble! and she makes chocobo noises
Spent lunchtime+ marking every page/character I need to reference for my rinsho test (color-coded by piece; three 6-character pieces and two 14-character pieces)…
3 months with Mersey! She hissed at me for the first time - one of her claws was stuck; I was trying to take hold of her paw to get her loose and she Did Not Like That! She’s also gotten picky about food (or just less food-motivated/food-insecure now than she was when she first got here) ❤️❤️❤️
My bus got into the city an hour late; I’m hungry and achy; splurging on a cab to get me the rest of the way home and the cabbie is guilting me about making him drive to Brooklyn…. But @mecha-tho.bsky.social knows how to cheer me up
I heard we’re making terrible comics today #makeaterriblecomicday2026
Press on nails! Pros: look nice, make nail-biting physically impossible, good for scratching itches, make fun clicky clacky sounds Cons: basic tasks (buttoning a shirt, taking out contacts) suddenly feel impossible, >=1 falls off every time I do a chore, have to change my deadlifting grip
Despite my best efforts I’m pretty clumsy, and managed to spill a big ol’ splat of hair dye in our sink. Then I thought, “you know what looks better than one splat of dye?”
I found what I can only assume is a baby from a king cake (?) in the building laundry room (???) …
2 months with Mersey! We are getting better at reading her body language, and she gets startled much less often than she used to. Sometimes she’ll act hungry, but then won’t eat unless we play with her a bit and she successfully “hunts” her meal 😆
Going about my usual Sunday mix of chores and rest and fun, thinking about the opening paragraph of Lady Chatterley's Lover again (apropos of nothing I'm sure...)
Anyone know if this meme gets used in Japanese, and, if it’s translated, what the most commonly used 日本語 version is?
This is a cat checkpoint; relinquish your most recent cat picture on your phone! How is Mersey so photogenic???
Any mutual who make and sell tshirts really like the brand of blanks they use? I’m going to try selling some calligraphy ones like these that I made for an exhibition, but need to buy blanks. Probably unisex to start, 100% cotton, and want them to feel *high quality*…..
1 month with Mersey! - her favorite times to get the zoomies are 10pm and 5am - sometimes *asks* for pets! (still not a snuggler) - she no longer hides under the couch when the dreaded vacuum appears (but does retreat to our bedroom)
Mersey, first time seeing us dance. So judgmental. The photo really can’t capture it.
3 weeks with Mersey update: - she has bursts of energy where she loves to play-hunt, chases her tail with great enthusiasm, and zooms up and down the hall - she likes to watch pigeons from our bedroom window - we got her a puzzle-feeder, and love watching her figure out how to snag the treats
"I mean, I wanna—I wanna kill. Kill. I wan—I wanna see, I wanna see blood and gore and guts and veins in my teeth. Eat dead burnt bodies. I mean kill. Kill. Kill! Kill!" And I started jumpin' up and down yelling, "Kill! Kill!" and…”
After spending a cumulative 3 hours on hold with the IRS, having my call dropped twice, and STILL not having my issue dealt with...
2 weeks with Mersey update: - We have figured out the perfect difficulty for her puzzle feeder - Her favorite toys are a little rope mouse, a plastic ball with a bell in it, and a cool stick - she still hides under the couch when the doorbell rings, but doesn’t stay down there long
I'm exhibiting some calligraphy next month, along with my instructor and a bunch of my fellow students! If you're in the NYC area you should come check it out
I usually write longer messages on patron thank-you cards, but I need to do 40+ of them this month, so I’m trying something different ~
Finally got around to adding the latest MSB pins to the panel for my ita bag!
