Alright, first draft of the first Scenario for the Disco Arkham Horror set set is done (along with base decks for the 4 flavors of Harry). Now to see if I can playtest it a couple of times to make sure it's not too busted before I throw more energy at it.
Assembly time for Hench. Shout outs to @connor.alwaysawake.games for giving me a place to sell my weird crap, Portland's own Paperjam press for the lovely rulebooks and covers, and Launch Tabletop ( @launchtabletop.bsky.social perhaps?) for all the other quality components. See you at #PAXWest
A fun surprise to come back to after 4 days of camping, my prototype for Train of Thought came in. Excited to get this to the physical table for testing both in PDX and at Pax West
Proofs of the Rex Regnat 2nd printing just came in! Looks great, and if all goes well, should be ready in late August.
Hench box testing while I wait for the final art and prototypes to come in! I'd say it looks pretty good
Got to see playtestPDX own superstar Sasha's new game (published by The Op) looks like a hoot and it'll be available in stores soon!
For not my games stuff, the dinner last night at Rooster and Owl was incredible, so much delicious stuff! Highlight of today was an 8-player game of Sidereal, however. Kudos to Akar (spelling?) and The Meeple lady for making it happen
Circle DC has been a blast! Have gotten some really good tests of Train of Thought and Rex Regnat in today. I'm considering a second printing of Rex and might make some small tweaks since I already will have the hood open. Train was very zippy even at 6, which was really nice for a train game.
Game 2 is more historical - Train of Thought, a mix of philosophy, worker placement, and trains. Players are schools of philosophy, building routes of ideas on shared topics. It plays 2-6 and takes about 1.5 hours. I have a table from 10-2 on Sunday, but will be also testing during open slots.
Game 1 is a design I've worked on for a while, Hench. It's a "co-op-petative" game of cartoon minions, where players work together to accomplish missions for their evil boss, but want to get the most glory. It plays 3-6 and takes 30-45 minutes. I have a slot on Saturday from 10-2 for this fellow.
Got some new prototypes in for Train of Thought and Hench in prep for Unpub. Things are lookin' pretty snazzy! Huge thanks to the folks at @printplaygames.com for the quick turnaround and quality products.
Another very positive playtest for Train of Thought. Sounds like it's time to print a copy and start inflicting it on my friends. Who knew 18xx + classical philosophy would work so well?
It is finished. Silksong is a really great game, but by act 3, the difficulty was taxing, with most bosses taking 20-30 attempts at minimum. That said, most of the game felt fair, and you can really feel yourself getting better, which is a nice change from some of my other hobbies 😄.
Got back from caving with the scouts, was quite the adventure, glad we were able to make it happen and that the youth had a great time!
Had a great meetup at Guardian Games for the @breakmygame.com PDX meetup! We even had visitors from Seattle and Minnesota. Had a solid playtest of Hench, looks like there's still more to do. Also played an amazing galactic twister game from @boardgameghee.bsky.social and Sasha's great card battler!
Went on a great hike on the Larch Mountain loop after a solid playtest of De Excidio. @jeffgrisenthwaite.bsky.social gave some really solid feedback, and I need to think if there's enough of a market for heavy multi-victor stuff. Lots to fix while I cogitate
If any of this sounds at all interesting, check me (and other rad designers listed here - www.alwaysawake.games/pnw-tabletop...) out at the Pax West Indie Night market
@mistergross.bsky.social your copy is en-route! I signed it after I took the picture, and hope you have a lot of fun with it.
Picture proofs are in for the PNW Tabletop Game Market edition of Rex Regnat and they look amazing! Huge thanks to @mistergross.bsky.social for rulebook editing! Pumped to be showing this off at PAX West!
Proof copy is in! Need to do a little tweaking on some tokens to handle some registration noise, but it looks siiiiicccckkkk
Since I'm in sin city, I have to visit the holy of holies, the Taco Bell Wedding Cantina. I feel the sacredness of the space everywhere.
Here to check in for Galactics, and it seems like more than a few other people had the same idea
I know what you mean! I always think of this XKCD - xkcd.com/2501/ But I don't know a better term.
