For Flower, to light the way for her. Although, apparently she had her own lightning showing her the path over the rainbow! Yay, Flower!

A photo from a couple years ago. Dug from drifted front door down my walk to where the drift beside the car is. Narrow path cut through deep snow with snow shovel leaning on the drift. Beyond, one can just see the roof of light blue car and its windsheild wipers sticking up. Beyond that is expanse of snow and evergreen trees.

Hedgewatch! Rather... haywatch! Cat is out surveying his domain, sitting in partially mowed septic field, surrounded by a flowery hayfield waiting to be harvested. Not too hot, not too cold! Perfect June day in Scova Notia!

An orange tabby is sitting in the middle of green septic field with paths cut through it. There is a large comfrey plant starting to flower, a wild rose bush, lots of tall grass, and a back line of stakes and a swallows nesting box separating hayfield from lawn. Hayfied is full of white daisies and yellow buttercups and paintbrushes. A line of trees marks the lot line down the right side.

This is columbine after the daffs were done! Comes in a variety of colours including a magenta. Another idea for ruts would be long skinny plastic deck pots filled with flowers you could store in shed for winter. See back of the photo. They would not run over those!

When I moved a bit ago, my nameless cat was skitzy! So I put his blanket way up on some boxes at the end of the kitchen counter so he could watch. Felt safe up there? It was at a time when cats on boxes was a thing. We won! King of the boxes!

Morning sun on snowcovered landscape. Orange snow fence nearly completely buried. Braided willow trees covered halfway up trunks. Snow plowed along edges of the road so high that one cannot see over them driving. Neighbours garbage box and mailboxes buried. Shadow of a house makes the snow look blue.

And this one is Andy Everson's Majestic, print 37/99. It depicts a Kingfisher. Near Everson's home of K'omoks is a hotel and spa called The Kingfisher where I often stayed. The receding blues of the mountains in the background make me weep with homesickness for the West Coast.

This one is dear to my heart. It is a print 9/99 called Heritage and depicts the mountain near Courtney/Comox, BC on the inner side of Vancouver Island. Everson hails from this area with K'omoks ancestry. His work was available on the K'omoks First Nation reserve gift shop there, a stunning place.

Ok, gonna repost this for all of us who are completely sick of snow and shovelling and cold. This is my Dad's yard right now in coastal BC (rainforest like Seattle), Canada.

An old apple tree hangs over a garden bed full of purple primula in bloom! So many plants that it looks like a carpet. There is green grass and not a flake of snow !

One year here, I had to spraypaint where my driveway was! It tok a bulldozer to break through it!

A very tall line of snow, maybe 10 feet tall, plowed along the side of the road. Sprayed with orange paint onto the snow is a sign that says Driveway with two markers down the sides showing any passing plows where the driveway is.

So, the cat has the best idea for the day! We got over 8 inches, 20 cm, and still snowing heavy wet snow. Thank goodness too heavy to blow around! 132,000 folks currently no power in Scova Notia. All schools closed and most business, too. Only managed 1/2 hour shovelling so far.

Ok, try again one pic at a time... K and H Pet Products has a 2 screw into top of windowsill shelf. Also make a heated plug in version. Sponge has not held up (no prob) but cover easy to wash and dries fast. See Alt text fur more deets.

Cat was funny! No problem going out back deck door, down the side of house but then wanted to come in front door which was drifted in! I opened inside door and he was halfway up the screen door, screaming LET ME INNNN! Had to go out back and peek around the front to call him back the way he went out

Dark blue photo of wind-drifted snow along the front of house. Peaks are 5 or 6 feet high with a tunnel along the front of house. Little cat footprints go up the snowbank closest to camera where a brave and crazy kitty scrambled. Barely visible near the door is a snowblower parked on the deck.

I had drifts across my area fields sooo bad a few Febs ago that even the road grader got stuck. I was 6 days getting access to the road through the drift although it was clear around my house and driveway cleared. Just boxed in. Give them time to clean it up.

Looking out above-ground back deck at weird drifts that blocked driveway and path to the car. A big orange road grader is going by and one can just see the roof. A blue Honda Fit is sitting in knee deep snow with its windshield wipers pulled out. Snow fence is not visible but lilac and the top of woven willow tree is.

Yes, best to grow yer own fresh. Lasts longer. 2 weeks or so then start a new pot. Set up easy with large tub of potting soil, wheatgrass seeds and coco or paper pots and trowel all ready somewhere. Scoop soil, lay seeds on top, water well, set in sun on tray and keep watered every couple days. Yum!

Two pots of wheatgrass for cats. One sprouted grass on a white plastic tray. One seeds on dark soil on black plastic tray. Both sit on green striped rug on window furniture.

Around where I live, since ticks are a new thing, lots of folks are getting guinea fowl to eat the ticks. Noisy bold birds that stray across roads and far from home. Or maybe quail or partridge or pheasant, all wild.

Adult and young guinea fowl walking and eating in green grass. Adult is black with white speckles and a spectacular blue and red combs and wattles. Young are mottled brown. Fat, odd-looking birds that talk a lot.
