Interesting looking at your pics, here’s a pic of the bird I had on Blakeney Point on 17th Feb not a great image, but surely a different bird. The bill structure and head to me feel obviously heavier!?
It was good watching the local Pink-feet earlier this week and not too difficult to find some nice Tundra Beans amongst them, especially when there was a total of 18 amongst them! Also 3 Russian White-fronted Geese with this group.
Some decent weather at last! Good to see my local Goshawk population is doing very well, managed at least 3 different males this morning, possibly four! @danmartinwildlife.bsky.social
A good long walk yesterday down Blakeney Point with @mandymyers007.bsky.social proved worthwhile with a Merlin, Great N Diver and this beefcake Glaucous Gull on the end, which unfortunately got flushed before I could get some better pics, real chunky one with a colossal bill.
Out locally on the bike this pm. Rode past these fields with margins and cover strips, but might we be better off putting those subsidies towards educating #farmers on how to cut hedgerows? Plus not smash all the bramble down, a really important nectar source? #farmland #conservation
Great morning around Salthouse & @nwtcley with Steve Lewis, Twite, Jack Snipe, lots of Red-throated Divers and a Pale-bellied Brent showing at point blank range. Some nice shoreline delights to be found too!
There was a wonderful selection of the rare & scarce showing well at Filby broad but you couldn’t ignore this showy stunning ♂ Goldeneye!
A thoroughly enjoyable day out East started with sifting through a few thousand Pink-feet, great to watch at least 7 Tundra Beans, this group of three showing nicely!

The general consensus amongst many of the respected birders here is that it’s a Taiga. I saw it today & was pretty amazed how small it was & wasn’t totally convinced. I’m going to bow to the combined knowledge of those birders, but it’s definitely a tricky bird! Very small, for me atypical bill.
Farmed Salmon is not good for you or the environment, in fact it’s a disaster for the environment. Amazing how many people eat Salmon unaware of how it’s reared and think it’s good healthy food. Antibiotics, colourants, pesticide sprays and still so many infected and lice ridden.
Another good day with @sconebirding.bsky.social & @andyinnorfolk.bsky.social started yesterday with 33,000 Starlings & over 800 finches! Followed up with a nicely picked out migrating Hen Harrier by Nick at Holme & rounded off at the end of the day with this obliging juvenile Purple Sand!
Best day so far this autumn for me. Lovely wander around Holkham & Overy with @sconebirding.bsky.social busy skies with 300+ Redwing, 40+ Brambling, 2500+ Starlings, 1-2s Fieldfare, Siskin, 20+ Blackbirds, flushed a SE Owl, Peregrine & 2 Yellow-browed Warblers.

What a truly amazing days birding in the Straits of Gibraltar on @oriolebirding.bsky.social tour - c9000 Honey Buzzards, hundreds of Booted, Short-toed Eagles, 1000+ Bee-eaters, 25 Montagu’s Harriers, Black Storks & over 1000 White Storks, the latter performing this mesmerising sight overhead!!
The first autumn passerine migrants appearing. Yesterday…Arctic & Great Skuas appeared offshore & the last flocks of Swifts were overhead. Nice to see @rspbtitchwellsnett.bsky.social brimming with waders 520 Black-wits, 48 Ruff, 3 Greenshank, 3 Little Stints, 4 LRP, Cn & Green Sand & a Hobby.
Here’s mine from a few years ago. It looks okay shape wise but it is clearly v worn!! Maybe the remnants of the brown leading edge to the wing on yours?

A Happy New Year to all! In a World with rapidly shrinking habitats & wetlands. It’s been a pleasure in Rajastan after a great monsoon, to see 17 sp. of wildfowl & 24 sp. of wader. 100’s of waders filling roadside pools, had 100+ Spotshank & 50+ Marsh Sands on a single pool.
Merry Christmas to everyone from Central India where we just celebrated our Xmas morning with stunning views of both Leopard & Tiger, stumbling on to both whilst alone in our jeep!
A great first day in Corbett area on the @oriolebirding.bsky.social N India tour that kicked off with 3 Ibisbills followed by sensational views of Leopard!
A great first 4 days guiding the @oriolebirding.bsky.social tour in India, 163 species already after 3 days at Bharatpur & a Chambal river visit. Chuffed that I’ve eventually caught up with one of these beauties!
