Also remember that smoke is bad but the places on fire? Worse!

Don’t forget also to check and clean your portable AC filters. They quickly get overloaded from the particulates!

My big advice is to stay indoors, mask up outdoors, and try to not breathe this stuff. Also you can make air filters! I went to the local Target and bought a few furnace filters and just taped them to box fans. After 10 days they looked like this

Anyway there are services/apps that can help you keep track of just how bad the air is. Frankly anything over about 85 triggers my asthma. Wildfire AQI can be vastly worse

Back in September 2020 a weird weather event plus wildfires put us under a pall of smoke for ten days. It sucked!

Last time I was in Wisconsin this absolutely happened, these bears hung out for hours and knew we were there but never acted threatening. We just kept basically saying “hey, we’re still around, don’t let us startle you” while they looked for berries and climbed trees and stuff
