Greens were at Lancaster Pride yesterday. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ The Green Party will always stand up for LGBTIQA people and work towards a sustainable and just society where everyone is valued, respected and empowered regardless of their sexuality or gender identity.

We've been asked to help publicise this Kurdish Film Festival chronicling the resistance and lives of Kurdish refugees and asylum seekers on Saturday June 13th at the Storey in Lancaster. On the day, there's also an interview with the Director of the London Kurdish Film Festival.

Green Cllr Paul Stubbins recently attended the launch of the new Bayshare Library of Things, and signed up as a member. Anyone can become a member and save resources by borrowing tools and other items that are used only occasionally at a very affordable rate, instead of buying them.

The next Repair Cafe is on Saturday 20th June 11-1.30pm at Warton Methodist Church. If you would like to bring something for repair, please email repaircafewartonyealand@gmail.com with details and and an idea what time you plan to arrive. 5/5

Visitors bring their damaged goods and work side-by-side with people who have the tools, materials and know how to repair them, & get them back in use. On the launch in May, 27 repair jobs were brought, most were successfully completed & it was a friendly, happy morning with a cafe. 2/5

REPAIR CAFE! A new free community event began in May, which will alternate between Warton and Yealand Village Hall. Volunteers help people fix broken household items — such as electronics, bicycles, clothing, furniture, bicycles, crockery, appliances, toys, rather than throwing them away. 1/5

One resident who helped the clean-up has already started to try to turn the ginnel into a nice space for sitting out in, with benches and potted plants. 🪴🌿 An idea we hope will catch on! 💚 At least two other residents came out to say thanks and offered us refreshments too. 🙂 3/3

There were at least 20 people, including the 3 Castle Ward Green Councillors, Green Party volunteers, and residents including 2 families & some students who will be moving out soon. 🚮A huge amount of litter, soil, weeds, rubble & some fly-tipped items were cleared - including a dishwasher! 🫣 2/3

Our newest Lancaster City Councillor, Will Farley, heard while door-knocking that Blade Street's ginnel (alley) was untidy & needed work. He checked it out this week, found flytipping, litter, general foliage. So Castle Ward's Green Councillors organised a team of people to get stuck in today. 1/3
