Excellent article! We had a donation earlier this year from a former NWA pilot & model-builder of a Convair he flew for North Central. Couldn’t bear the thought of hauling it away in several rubbish bags so delivered it to us instead.

Joyous day yesterday as we accepted a GIANT 1/10 scale Convair 440 built by retired Captain Peter Knutson to commemorate his time flying the type. It will hang in our Archive until we’re able to move into a bigger facility. #aviation #Minnesota #airlinehistory

Empire Airlines schedule and route map, March 1, 1947. This is just as Empire absorbs the certificate of Zimmerly Airlines, and they are flying four Boeing 247Ds. Empire would merge into West Coast, which went into Air West / Hughes Airwest, thence Republic, and finally Northwest.

Yesterday’s announcement about Sun Country was a gut punch - we had just opened a new exhibit case talking about them. We’ll be reaching out to see what we can preserve & display as our museum’s scope expands to all commercial aviation in the Northland.
