In this trying time, may I offer you this photo of a native bee sleeping on one of our wildflowers at the family home from this past weekend. The shade from the pepper plants was soothing for them, so I hope it works the same for you.
The takanotsume peppers are ripening which means we'll soon be able to finish the last camping cooking recipe for the new "Laid-Back Camp" panel. They have also turned out to be nice spicy chilis to have when I need them for cooking this or that and, being small plants, they do well on the balcony.
I'll have you know that exact Sound Euphonium bench is still in Uji. (But, seriously, when you're pooped in Japan, finding a bench can be an absolute nightmare.)
Along with rare Florida waterfalls and a gorgeous spider hiding from the rain and waiting for chow on a flower.
I was very happy to finally make a place on the wall for the Haruhi ukiyo-e prints I was able to nab from the Mandarake Big Web Auction's Kyoto Animation feature a few months back. They are a gem and I enjoy them so much!
The jingisukan pan and powdered amazake pans have arrived. If I can find some lamb shoulder tomorrow, we'll be making some more camping recipes on Sunday. Here's hoping.
Speaking as a person who was forced to learn cursive and uses it as their default writing style to this day: this is the dumbest thing imaginable. Why not take the money it'll cost to implement this and make it so school lunches are free for everyone in PA? You know, like a decent fucking society!?
Turned the biggest chunk of mitsuba on my porch into ice cubes for flavoring stews and such. This will allow me to start growing Takanotsume peppers in the big porch pot which I need for another round of "Laid-Back Camp" camping cooking recipes.
I don't know if it's been brought up yet, but the Big O's piston arm is monumentally cool as well.
As a mecha person, I adore the Unicorn Gundam's Beam Magnum. It doesn't have a regular e-pac- the in-universe term for the beam weapon magazines - because every shot is so strong that it depletes an entire e-pac. As a result, it's magazine is a big stack of e-pacs. It's an astonishingly cool weapon.
Look who decided to scare me while I was getting ready to make slaw. I moved them back out to the patio laden with plants where they live comfortably year round.
Look what was there from @animeherald.com when I checked my mail today! Reading my backlog of magazines by the fire when I'm camping is a staple for me, so this'll be the first thing I dig into the next time I'm out camping by myself. I'll post some extra photos then, but I can't wait to enjoy it!
It's officially gotten cold enough here to break out the fuzzy slippers. This year, I'm going for the Evangelion shinkansen slippers!

Found a Brahminy Blind Snake while doing some work in the garden. She was very cute and wanted to dig in between my fingers to get away. She went back in the flower bed where there are lots of nice ant nests for her to get chow from.
Got to see the world's oldest wooden buildings at Horyuji yesterday along with another solid contender for extremely old wooden buildings with this pagoda at Hokiji.
We're in Toyama for 2 days and when we were strolling to the hotel from Toyama Station, I saw this manhole cover that gave me a stark shock. Yuruyuri never came up when I was looking at Toyama stuff. I made it my goal to get all 10 manhole covers while I was in Toyama and was successful.
The food is pretty okay; nothing earth-shattering but not bad at all. If there's one thing to it, it's that this is one of the rare occasions where I think a Japanese place has had sweets with an American level of saccharine nature to them.
Trying out my first ever special anime café event in Ikebukuro with the "Demon Girl Next Door" event at Charaum Café. First impressions are that it smells like an anime con in the worst sort of way. Let's see how the food it.
Obviously my first breakfast in Japan was a traditional staple - bagels! The sun-dried tomato cream cheese was especially good.
