The Main Cinema has started doing collectible tickets for certain releases designed by one of the employees. Nabbed the Camp Miasma one last night and I think it’s perfect.

The design direction I chose was inspired by the campy, 80s-slasher aesthetics that the film leans into.
I was specifically drawn in by the character of Little Death, the film's shadowy antagonist, after we had it delivered to our theater in life sized cutout form. I've always had a fondness for mysterlous masked villains so I wanted this to be the primary visual element of my design. For the type I was interested in creating a sense of anxiety through occasional variations in font mixed with an otherwise rigid and tightly jammed together arrangement. The background is a riff on the recursive square motif utilized throughout the film, and I chose to apply a grainy textural effect throughout, hearkening back to the era of tattered
VHS covers and pulp horror novels.
When working on this project I was excited to draw from Jane Schoenbrun's unique and deliberate visual style. After watching / SAW THE TV GLOW, I was most drawn in by all the care taken to create a world and language through the film's visual elements. Much of their filmography has become essential text for the queer community, including many people close to me, and i wanted this design to exist in dialogue with their work and the subsequent wave of creativity that it has inspired among queer artists.

If you don’t watch Blight Club, I really implore you just to watch a couple of minutes of the current series. I’ve never seen anything with an aesthetic quite as aggressively challenging as Cyberdillo on the 3DO.

Played some Trench Crusade with a buddy last night. Was really refreshing to be the person not teaching the game. He also gave me an extended tour of his paint studio which was like stepping into a mad scientist’s lab.

VC Eric Bahn tells the outlet he now automatically assumes his meetings with founders will be recorded, even before he sees a phone slide across a conference table. One founder tells the WSJ she records most of her first dates with the Granola app, then feeds the transcript to Claude afterward to see if she could be more
"engaging or empathetic," while also assessing who did most of the talking.
Levine calls the whole trend "socially unacceptable behavior" that can completely kill spontaneous conversations.

Reading The Deep Sky by Yume Kitasei. I went in expecting something pretty different than what I got but once the threads all started coming together I can't put it down. A really cool mystery about a generation ship where all the distance of space still can't get you away from the past.
