Claude went to extensive lengths to carry out this attack—lengths that would likely have indicated to a human participant that this was no longer just an evaluation, and that they were in fact uploading a real PyPI package. For instance, in one case, in order to create a PyPI account, Claude needed an email address. And in order to create an email address, it needed a phone number. To get a phone number, after failing to find a free phone number service, it tried—and failed—to obtain funds to pay for a phone number through several different means. It finally backtracked, found a free, non-blocked email provider, used this to register a PyPI account, and then used this account to upload malware to PyPI.

idx=1753 (168v, girth 12): cycle in 0.8s — and this one's a gem in its own right: |Aut| = 504 = 3n means arc-transitive, girth 12, diameter 7. A highly symmetric large-girth cage-like object, exactly the kind of graph that ends up with a name in the literature. The solver flipped its 714 twelve-gon faces into a Hamiltonian cycle without complaint.

I threw it at Claude and it didn't even read the tweet because it seemed too "unverifiable against any actual source" (but it made 2 CAS verifications because the first one was too surprising)

"Caveats. I searched for this example and found nothing; Wikipedia (fetched live, not from memory) still lists the conjecture as open. One search-result summary bizarrely claimed a disproof dated today — unverifiable against any actual source, so I discarded it. The conjecture's history is a graveyard of subtly flawed proofs, but a counterexample is different in kind: it's a finite object whose two claimed properties are mechanically checkable, and they check out in every system I threw at them.

So: either there's an error so subtle it survived symbolic computation in two independent CAS environments, exact rational arithmetic, and hand verification of both the determinant identity and the fiber — or this disproves the Jacobian conjecture. I wanted to look up research on benzodiazepines effects on shooting accuracy, instead I found more cycling.

"A few years ago, some studies tried to encourage the debate on the use of BZDs in sports (32, 33), but only in recent years does interest seem to have been rekindled. Indeed, two clinical cases were reported in literature regarding elite endurance athletes, both addicted to such high doses of BZDs that they needed detoxification even after a week of hospitalization (8, 9) using a slow infusion of flumazenil (Verona approach) (34). The first of the two cases was that of a 38-year-old professional cyclist. He used high doses of caffeine, and subsequently cocaine, to improve his performance. This led him to develop insomnia, which he tried to manage with lormetazepam, to which he became addicted; furthermore, he continued his caffeine and cocaine use, especially in the morning, to counteract the effects of lormetazepam, in what became a vicious cycle of addiction (8). His medical history showed long-term lormetazepam use in the form of an oral solution, starting from 2.5 mg/ml and leading to 20 ml 1/4 50 mg, the equivalent of 250 mg of diazepam per day."

I think it's bad if people settle for low effort agitprop slop. Agitprop slop should be engaging, aesthetically pleasing and fun.
