Sports Marketing Reporter at Adweek, looking at where brands, media, sports, and entertainment intersect and occasionally meeting them on and off the field/court. Find me here:
Still want to give it a try, but the first attempt might be in Cedar Hills... in a buildout slightly less than $4 million.
Sean—formerly of Hoboken—seeks only Italian sausage rope. It's another one of those things that didn't seem regional when we left, but may as well be flying saucer fuel here. P.S. Sean just made an Italian ice run for me from Great American and it's a debt that needs to be repaid.
Unfortunately, as @courtneyvaughn.bsky.social points out, both the Fire and the Moda Center's concert tenants sublease from the Blazers. This means promoters and the Fire are just hoping that renovations would keep their needs in mind.
As the story notes, the current bridge agreement requires the Blazers specifically to keep the building in good operating order and make any necessary fixes. While that's good news for the city in the short term, it's not great news for either concert business or other tenants like the Portland Fire
Right up until about a month ago, The Oregonian still had its president sitting on the Metro Chamber's board. Scrubbed from the site now, but here for posterity.
There's a guy who only played 11 games for Duke who'd like to shut that conversation down:
Was wondering if thie Blazers move for Ja Morant was going to distract Oram from his Moda Center crusade. Didn't disappoint.
Why, you’d have to be almost cartoonishly cruel to purposely underspend on personnel and facilities to force a move elsewhere….
Let's check in on the Blazers again in two months, when Western Oregon's Ryan Orton comes available for $750,000 and a Movie Madness membership.
Meanwhile, a good reply to the inference that Portland is a "one horse town":
There are some absolute gems in this one, but the "why should I pay anything, I pay taxes" reaction is of particular note:
Might just keep a running tally of these. The get-in price for just about any Friday night Mariners game this season: $38 including fees—though midweek games like this week's series against the Orioles go for less than $20 apiece.
I am fewer than four miles from the stadium. When the most direct bus line runs, the trip by transit is 45 minutes to an hour.
When the price of seats at your half-full, A-level ballpark under high-tension towers near no public transit is compared to that of the top team in the AL West in an actual city... it's going to be a long summer.
Once again @jeremiahhayden.bsky.social and the @portlandmercury.com doing with the morning rundown what the paper of record couldn't with three days' worth of coverage... simply by allowing the votes to roll in and The Oregonian to step on rakes.
I’ll see this and raise you that it isn’t journalistically appropriate or ethically sound to sit on the board of said organization while publishing those opinions:
Well, so much for that. The lurid, mobbed-up bit didn't even happen here or during his tenure here. @blazersedge.bsky.social getting its kicks stomping on a dream.
Though the Fire name surfaced amid trademark applications in June, Adopt looked to the city to move the brand ahead. “I think the great brands do that: It’s not just about taking them back, but it’s reminding them of their past and then scripting them into the future,” said Adopt's David Creech.
An @adweek.bsky.social exclusive: This morning, WNBA Portland brought back the Portland Fire brand, making it far more about Portland than fire. With help from Portland's Adopt, it built Mount Hood into its monogram, bridges into its letters, and the @modacenter.bsky.social into its "Rose on Fire."
Getting some mixed messages about just how badly the local sports booster organization actually wants people to absorb sports in Oregon.
It's also not every day that @adweek.bsky.social gets to talk to an @thenba.space team with its own record label. Hoping to hear more from the @warriorsofficial.bsky.social about this project and others.
Looking at that Julio Rodríguez JuliOs ceral picture all day made me want a Reggie bar in the worst way. Order placed.
