Wait, is it every other Friday again already? Sure enough, it's #FightFascismFriday in the Arts District of Las Vegas with @indivisiblelasvegas.org. As long as the Felon in Chief keeps criming, grifting, and generally screwing up our country, we'll keep protesting.

Dementia Don came to town today. Check what he said elsewhere, it's as deranged as you'd expect. I believe that if you come to my town, you're going to address my issues. So, I made sure I was in the right place with my sign with my message, just for him. Feel free to not come back.

We had some *awesome* public engagement, with folks literally getting out of their cars to show their support. Is this because the Felon in Chief's approval ratings are cratering? Who can say? But we'll be showing up until his corrupt regime is out of power and the healing can begin.

It was every other Friday today, which means it's time for #FightFascismFridays with @indivisiblelasvegas.org! It was a warm day, but we came prepared and rallied in the shade. We had a good turnout including some new faces, who are always welcome.

Members of this coalition include @indivisiblelasvegas.org, the Las Vegas chapter of @pslweb.bsky.social, @handmaidsoflv.bsky.social, the Nevada Immigrant Coalition, and Las Vegas @codepink.bsky.social. This will not stop until the harassment stops and our communities are restored.

This week the weather was humid (for Las Vegas, nowhere near, say, Houston humid), and we even had a few welcome drops of rain. This is a good spot for protesting with plenty of street traffic and reasonably good shade.

Our downtown protests generally occur every other Friday. There's music and fun for all.

We had a really good turnout, especially on a hot day on a holiday weekend. We had a lot of supported foot and vehicular traffic, with some passers by stopping to join us and/or dance to our music with us. Check out the Indivisible LV web site for dates and times and come join us!

Aaaaaand we're on the march, headed down Main St. for a couple of blocks. Once there, it's time for some singing and a dance break. The Strip isn't the only part of Las Vegas that looks cool at night.

We were hanging out right next door to RecycledPropaganda recycledpropaganda.com It's a super cool art gallery/store run by some outstanding people. If you're in the neighborhood of Main and Charleston, definitely check it out. No question, this neighborhood is a lot more fun than the court house.

It's a #Juneteenth edition of #FightFascismFridays! This time, @indivisiblelasvegas.org is in the #artsdistrictlasvegas. Sure, it's warm, it's Las Vegas in June, but with the sun below the skyline, it was a really pleasant evening. What do you think, should we come hang out here more often?

In the room, the biggest issue was, of course, the daily demand charge. Folks don't understand this, they're afraid of it, it's adds variability to their bill, and I don't blame them. This has been a fiasco since roll-out, and has been delayed twice so far. They should scrap it and start over. 4/

Then, once a speaker had spoken, they were asked to leave so that more folks from outside could take their place. However, there was no real-time video of the session, and no recording is available, so we couldn't hear what folks who spoke after us said. 3/

Second, instead of everyone just going up to the hearing room, we had to line up outside in the heat. My weather app forecasted a high of 105F for that area. Then, once the session started, only 50 people at a time were allowed inside. Everyone else had to wait outside in the heat. 2/

Yesterday was the annual consumer session at the Public Utility Commission of Nevada. To say it was chaotic is underselling it. First, there was a huge law enforcement presence, doubtless over concerns after the previous day's protest. Still, what wee saw seems like an overreaction. 1/

2. The general affordability of utility bills. Costs keep going up, in lockstep with NV Energy's profits. Ratepayers are being gouged. 3. The public fears that the costs for energy infrastructure to support new data centers will be passed on to ratepayers. Ratepayers should not pay for them.

The protesters objected to: 1. NV Energy's yet-to-be-implemented daily demand charge. It's unprecedented, confusing, hurts solar owners, and people fear that it will be unfair to the most vulnerable ratepayers who will find it difficult to reschedule their energy usage.

This morning, Ratepayers United along with local advocacy groups including @planevada.bsky.social, @nvenvirojustice.bsky.social, Faith Organizing Alliance, NAACP, and others protested NV Energy at their HQ on Sahara Ave., and the PUCN at their HQ in the SW valley staging protests in their lobbies.

The protesters are concerned about the impending daily demand charge that NV Energy is pushing on Nevada ratepayers. In no other state in the union do the ratepayers have a charge like this on their bill, and for good reason. Do you know how it will affect your energy bill? If not, you're not alone.
