I recently introduced my Meinl Sonic Energy 10" rain disk into my sound baths and clients love it already! Here is a photograph from last Friday night's sound bath at Thrive Wellbeing Hub. The rain disk is played by turning it slowly to produce the emulated effect of a gentle stream. 🥰

The 3rd phishing/scam email today from 'The Band Team' via the contact form on my artist page on @bandcamp.com. Again, I have forwarded the message to the support@bandcamp.com email address. Here is a screenshot with the link redacted (DON'T click the link!). You can see the scammer's IP address 😅

The screenshot shows a spam email from the contact form on Bandcamp. The link that they are trying to get recipients to click is redacted. The spammer has sent the message via the email address bandcamp@gmail.com. Their IP address is visible in the email. Bandcamp state at the bottom of the message that they do not use the contact form on artist pages to contact artists and Bandcamp use email addresses ending in bandcamp.com, not gmail.com

There s no credible historical or academic evidence that Tibetan monasteries ever manufactured or produced singing bowls. Furthermore, traditional Tibetan Buddhist monks did not use them as musical or spiritual instruments in their ceremonies. The concept of a "Tibetan singing bowl" used for sound healing is a Western myth popularized in the 1970s.
The Missing Historical Record
If singing bowls were an integral part of monastic life or produced by the monks, they would appear in the massive historical records of Tibet. However, they are entirely absent:
• The Tibetan Buddhist Canon: The Kangyur and Tengyur (the sacred texts detailing every monastic ritual, instrument, and practice) contain zero mentions of singing bowls.
• Historical Ethnomusicology: When Western explorers and musicologists—such as English journalist Perceval Landon in 1903 or ethnomusicologist Daniel Scheidegger in 1988—cataloged the traditional instruments used in Tibetan monasteries, they listed bells (drilbu), cymbals (tingsha), and gongs, but never recorded a single singing bowl.
• Tibetan Testimony: Tibetan cultural ambassadors and elders born before the 1960s have repeatedly stated that singing bowls and "sound baths" were entirely unknown to them until Western tourists began asking for them in refugee bazaars.

The four bowls in this release were performed and recorded by Dr. Nicholas Peters using multiple microphones. The sounds of the 4 bowls were then layered with field recordings of the dawn chorus recorded in Hale, Altrincham (in track 1), and the Mediterranean Sea (in track 2). The mixing and mastering was also done by Dr. Nicholas Peters.

To date, I have now released over 60 tracks of my handmade Himalayan singing bowls. Sound baths are an ideal 'activity' to help you to stay cool during a heatwave because you just lie down on a yoga mat on the floor for an hour and soak in the relaxing sounds. As you enter a state of deep relaxation, the body goes into 'low power mode', resulting in feeling cooler. bnds.us/jk5mmx

My Himalayan singing bowl track 'Concentrating on Dharana' features the sounds of the four bowls shown in the artwork: two Jambati, and two 'Naga' pedestal bowls. The title is a pun, as 'Dharana' could be transliterated as 'Concentration'. Listen on Spotify: open.spotify.com/track/5QLza3...

All of my Remo frame drums are made with an artificial skin ("Fiberskyn") and the frames are made from recycled materials in Taiwan. I play my frame drums either with a buffalo drum beater (as in the photograph below), or with my hands (as they are traditionally played).
