81 years ago today, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima, Japan. Hundreds of thousands of civilians were killed, and the world has never been the same. Today, we fold cranes to remember those lost and fight for a safer future. #CranesForOurFuture

Sadako Sasaki was two when the United States bombed her city of Hiroshima. When she was just 11, she was diagnosed with cancer that was caused by radiation exposure. While sick, she folded 1,000 paper cranes in the hopes that her wish to live would be granted.
