Good start to Dublin Comic Con, who continue to provide lots of opportunities to be very silly.
This little guy has appeared in the garden, just at the very start of their next big adventure
People mock pigeons' nest making abilities all the time, but this nest I saw is really impressive, in its own weird way.
Supergirl is a true, brilliant, fun ride. Strangely reminiscent of Capaldi era Doctor Who in its questioning of what it means to be a good person. The whole cast are on fire, the jokes get laughs, and the action is pure comic book while always being clear and exciting. But mostly, it has *heart.*
Delighted to be able to say that I've designed the new logo for @gallifreypals.bsky.social - Kat was a pleasure to work with, really open to ideas but with insightful, well communicated notes to help narrow it down to what they wanted.
We don't usually see each other's headers. Here's mine. Quote post with yours.
Week 24 accountability post. Last week of the 6mo program and inevitably I feel a mix of pride I stuck to it to make progress, & disappointment at gains I left on the table Anyways, onwards! Going to do a bit of a cut phase next and then put together a new set to try and bias some of my weak spots.
May the Fourth be with you! Always! Flying obsolete, heavily modded hunks of junk a specialty! #doctorwho #doctorwhofanart #doctorwhocosplay #starwars #maythefourth
In what I'm sure will be a shock to many, it turns out the Ivy is quite fancy.
The 2010s live action TV show Gotham did a similar thing, with a lot of 1930-50s clothes and set decor, but 1970s cars and TVs, and 1990s computers and mobile phones. Except for Bruce, whose cars and tech was generally actually from the 2010s to emphasize his wealth and access to cutting edge stuff.
There's also the comic series, split into various miniseries which took place in parallel to the TV show. You won't have gotten the benefit on your binge, but one of the cool things about MK (in the sheep mask) is that it's the first time a character from the comic crosses over into the TV show.
It's why the Fendahl is one of my favourite action figures. Because they appear in two sizes in the story, it's *both* a Fendahl in scale with the figures *and* a full size Fendahleen to menace your bookshelf.
Good time to remember my most niche cosplay: Zephon from Doctor Who episodes Day of Armageddon and Devil's Planet for DWM (Had to take out all the @gossjam inspired jokes about everything on Zephon being called Zephon though ) And thanks to the new recovery, we've finally seen his face! #doctorwho
One good thing about having to come to an empty office today is that the corporate network reads as American. So new old Doctor Who came to Ireland after all!
For the last few years I've been stuck with a phone where clarity just collapsed even on x2 zoom or any kind of shade or half light. Fortunately the new one performs much better. All these were taken from the spot, at various zooms up to x50, only getting a little soft even at the x50 mark.
Still one of my favourite unexpected references when, years later, Orphan Black has Cosima and Delphine trapped at the sinister mansion of an allegedly immortal, evolution obsessed Victorian scientist intent on taking over the world. When ordered to dress 'appropriately' for dinner, this happens:
This signed Sam Kieth print has moved with me from flat to flat and house to house for the best part of 30 years. His energy and imagination were incomparable and the savage, strange beauty of his art is unique in the history of comics. His death is a huge loss to the worlds of comics and art.
Had a brilliant time at Doctor Who con Flux last week, including meeting the wonderful Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill. So funny and kind in both their panel and fan meet. So much laughter, from their favourite motorway services, to giggling over the end of the Big Finish audio The Violet Hour.
Trip going swimmingly so far. Also managed to pack four bags for three days and still leave my boots behind.
Everyone else correctly (I'm guessing) naming Liotta while I immediately saw Stanley Baxter probably says something about my viewing habits compared to the average person.
The view of Enniscorthy on my way to work this morning. The flood water's receded but the Slaney's still threateningly high. They say it might flood again tonight, but are hopeful it won't, so fingers crossed I can make the return journey all the way home.
Yeah, even when the water recedes, it's going to take a while to make right.
