@nwaddell
Still the same guy as all the other networks. I love Lego! Metal! Writing! Actually does anyone love writing? But I’ve had some success. Short fiction published here and there. What else? Edmonton Oilers!
Ooh got a three month pro plan on Rebrickable for free! What does that mean exactly? I don’t really know but I’ll take it! Meantime here are today’s doodles still trying to figure out something cool for that ship. Need more parts! As always.
Here’s a very similar vibe- got the bendiness if not the wah. Instead of sinister Headstones are more cynical but without bitterness. Sardonic maybe. Love them!
Today’s tinkering. Not sure where to put the cockpit now! But also might make two of those central tubes and put them to the side. Always fun just seeing what you can see though.
Like @existentialshred.bsky.social I come to you now in search of a certain type of riff. Here are the exemplars: Dirt by Alice in Chains and Pretty Noose by Soundgarden. Bendy wah (I think?) with a sinister, heavy sound. Obviously these two bands have lots in common. What else is like these songs?
Well just glommed some more things in. Looking a little Jedi interceptory but that’s ok. Time to walk the dog and get on with my day! Maybe tomorrow I’ll have other ideas.
Doodling around with interesting shapes. I love the 1x2 round plate. It’s so versatile. And using the kind of old-fashioned propellor plates is neat. And I love the macaroni bricks! So here’s…something. Not sure what yet. Probably engines for a spaceship but what will the rest of it look like???
Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, or Alice in Chains (P.S. there’s like a billion more!)
Alright! Now I can tinker. Or maybe more like tomorrow I can tinker. Lunch time!
I really like this little goober. But I think I need to lower the cockpit by a plate or two. So I will build it in studio and tinker with it that way. Always scared if I take it apart too much I won’t be able to put it back together! Just a little Lego MOC I’m working on. Using those ovals again!
Hmm. Found this brake pad retaining clip in front of my car. Any vehicle driving by may have dropped it but Pallas will shortly be driving to work and I need to be sure it’s not from my #mazda CX-3. Anyone know for sure?
I was telling my therapist the story of how I wound up in this recording booth doing backup vocals for a Smelters song. It was therapeutically relevant! But then she asked me “why don’t you get a guitar and start a band?” I told her that the fact I hadn’t done so for the last 30+years is 1/x
Here’s an example of a book that got the coal dust treatment. I used to read a ton at the coal mine since a lot of time was spent getting loaded (less time later on as we got bigger shovels and eventually I just switched to listening to podcasts). Oh there’s even an old hazard form as a bookmark!
Started both these books today. Don’t know how many times I’ve read LotR but it’s a lot. First time was over 40 years ago! Michelle and I are doing a … guided reading through one of the bookstagram accounts that she loves. And Elantris is interesting so far.
Today is Michelle and my 21 anniversary! We had a lovely morning having lunch at Urban Diner than browsing Daisychain Book Company! Anniversary means we can get any books we want. Here’s what I got
Though i couldn’t quite do it last night, i will finish Wind and Truth shortly! Not quite a year since Pallas brought me a book from the library called Tress of the Emerald Sea and I was mine “great book but who’s Hoid? What’s a Cosmere?” Close to figuring out who Hoid is.
I haven’t paid close attention to the board gaming world in a bit but this new Stonemaier game- Duel of Meloch- seems neat! Like it’s a standalone game but your stuff from other games (Scythe and Expeditions) is compatible.
Close to being done the power miners conversion! Here they are side by side - the original Star Wars mashup shovel and the power miners. Which is a better fit theme wise. But I love my Star Wars mining Lego mashups. #moc
Progress in my power miners shovel. Nice thing about power miners as a Lego theme is they weren’t terribly worried about whether they’d work in the real world! So I can put the cab at the bottom.
Starting the process of converting my imperial shovel MOC to a Power Miners version. Just messing around to see what looks cool. Long ways to go but at least the frame doesn’t need to change.
Its actually pretty clear she’s yawning PS listen to Day for Night it’s the best Canadian album ever made!
Got a swag bag of Lego parts as part of my northern bricks registration so I made a little scene with them today Summoning the forest god
Northern Bricks time! So many amazing builds. Here’s my boss in my Lego side gig - Sam Malmberg-with a build he calls big stretch.
Can’t forget my builds! I just sort of took a short cut this year and displayed some mods I’ve made. Ran out of time to do my other idea which is to make some MOCs based on my own stories and poems. Among Lego builders in the best writer! Among writers in the best Lego builders lol
Northern Bricks is more set up than yesterday! The public show starts tomorrow. Here’s a sneak peek of what you might see
Did some setup for Northern Bricks today! Just an empty airline hangar but wait till you see it tomorrow! At the aviation museum. Staring Saturday actually.
