"Kindness is sometimes wiser than the truth" Lt. Colombo Lover of books, films, and animals. This account is really just an account of what I read throughout the year & a few pictures of my cats.
I believe Takeover is the 11th book in the Galaxy's Edge saga I've read & it was still a highly entertaining page turner. Highly recommend this series to any sci-fi military fans. Really enjoyed the new POV in this book, get to see the Galaxy through the eyes of the private contractors. #booksky
Just read Hidden Prey by John Sandford. My first 'Prey' novel & I dug it. A solid 'airport paperback', weird to say but, there is something charming about this series largely taking place in the Midwest, places I recognize & even been. I'd definitely give another book of Sandford's a read. #booksky
Thunderbolts Doomstrike is probably the last One World Under Doom tie-in I plan on reading. Wish they would have given a few more villains the 'Thunderbolts' twist but this book was a lot of fun, another solid addition to OWUD. Always enjoy a new Ghost Rider and the new Citizen V was cool. #comicsky
Peter Benchley's White Shark was a fun summer read. This post Jaws shark adventure was packed with a lot of positive shark facts & was far more silly than scary but I liked it. I had fun, I always enjoy that we get sea monster pov in Peter Benchley's books. #booksky
Finally read Relic by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child. The book one of my favorite horror movies is based on. Little sad the book takes place in NYC instead of Chicago, like the film, and wild the film didnt have Pendergast in it, but I really dug this book regardless. Highly recommend #booksky
This monopolized my reading for the last week or so but finally finished the X-Men Age of Revelation event. There is a lot of fun stuff is this event but imo its a bit too big & too short at the same time, an issue #4 would have turned several good series into great ones. Still worth checking out!
Wrapped up Alexander Freed's Alphabet Squadron Trilogy. I really liked this series made me nostalgic for the old Rogue/Wraith Squadron novels. Alphabet Squadron is probably my favorite addition to the new Canon Novels. Highly recommend for any Star Wars fan. #booksky
Finished Ben Percy's run on Red Hulk Mission Latveria. Not a direct tie-in to One World Under Doom but this book is all Red Hulk vs. Doom's reign. I'm not a Hulk guy but I really liked this series. It had the right amount of Hulk science/body horror & prison breakouts. Highly recommend! #comicsky
Just finished reading Doom's Division another great One World Under Doom tie-in. I love Tiger Division and enjoyed them being apart of this event. Also really dug the semi-X-Men crossover in this book. The cover art is incredible, the covers of issues 2 & 3 are favorites mine. #comicsky
Set up a cattrap this #caturday so far caught 2, Izzy doesnt look happy about it
Just finished The Independent Command by James Doohan & S.M. Stirling. The 3rd & final book in Doohan & Stirling's Engineer series. This series didn't reinvent the sci-fi trilogy by any means but I really had a lot fun with these books. Definitely a recommend read for any Star Trek fan. #StarTrek
Superior Avengers is truly a Superior tie-in book. I loved these new 'heroes,' the story is fun, the dueling art & color styles gives this book a delightful cosmic horror vibe. I had no idea Doom had a son. Doom, obviously, is a fascinating parental figure. Highly recommend reading #comicsky
Just finished One World Under Doom & I really loved it. I don't/haven't read much Fantastic Four so I'm not that familiar with Doom & definitely never read him as a main character before. Issue Four was incredible. Art & covers rocked, best Marvel event in a minute imo #comicsky
Just wrapped up Benjamin Percy's The Dead Lands. A fun post-apocalyptic cross-counrty adventure. Reminded me a bit of The Stand meets Beneath the Planet of the Apes. I always love a books that take place in Saint Louis, even future apocalypse Saint Louis. Recommended read for horror fans #booksky
I fell off my reading wagon for a sec but I'm back Finished reading Exceptional X-Men The Deep End by Ewing, Canero & crew. One of my favorite books of the relaunch but it helps that 3 of my top fav characters are in this Plus loving the new students & who doesn't love a Mr. Sinister story #comicsky
Remember You Will Die by Eden Robins. An AI's journey and processing after the loss of her 'daughter' throw a series of obituaries. Everyone in this is bursting with character. Some are sad but most are really fun & beautiful. I lost someone recently & this book was oddly comforting. #boosky
Great progress being made between Sigourney & Mulder. I think napping together is a solid step towards friendship
Blood Sweat & Chrome The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road by Kyle Buchanan was an incredible read for any film fan or casual fan of Mad Mad or anyone really. This is a really fun book, the author talks to nearly everyone involved in this film over the decades it took to make. #booksky
I liked Star Wars Labyrinth of Evil but I still believe my favorite prequel to episode 3 is Genndy Tartakovsky's Clones Wars. This book has a lot of fun in it. I really dug the investigation into Darth Sidious & always enjoy more time & story with Mace Windu & Count Dooku. #booksky
Finished reading West Coast Avengers War of Ultron. Which is a bit sad cause I really liked this book & think it would be a great on-going series. Ben Harvey & Josemaria Casanovos' covers are incredible. Really hope we see Killerwatt & Firestar again. #comicsky
Catching up on Radiant Black, finished reading volume 7 All-New All-Different and this series still rocks. Being from the Chicagoland area this book scratches a nostalgia itch for my hometown. If you haven't read this series this is a great jumping on point. #comicsky
