This is especially ironic considering that Saviour has a clearly defined "mouth" compared to the average Gundam design, yet it's the one piloted by Athrun at his most instrumentalized (going along Durandal's word for the sake of it).
I love this argument! However, it doesn't pass my smell test. Mecha in Gundam don't have "mouths"; they're intended to look like machinery (within the constrains of a glorified toy commercial). Face vents aren't "mouth-like". Compare a Gundam face to a Brave, which does have a defined mouth.
The issue is that, while correct, the story never does anything with it. SRW has other characters calling Kira on his heroism/arrogance, but the CE proper goes along with the idea that Kira and his group are always right and justified in their actions.
To be fair, that's the message that the writing is conveying: the Vagan are irredeemably evil.
There's a direct meta element to this. Tomino explicitly refused to make Amuro a traditional hero in CCA.

People always forget that Katoki was so much a fan of Mead's design that he made the Turn A's MG scrupulosuly around the original design illustrations.

When I saw the character, the most obvious conclusion was "well, she was conducting genetic experiments on herself and one of her research formulas backfired". The actual backstory is much stupider. (From the novelization; thanks, @zeonicscans.bsky.social)
