Taught War of the Ring to 17yo. I taught him too well I was a step away from destroying the One Ring and I had conquered two of his strongholds the same turn he finished his military conquest of Middle Earth boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/11... #boardgame
Minas Tirith is not prepared for the full might of Mordor
First play of Camp Grizzly 2e. A much lighter multiplayer Final Girl - in Camp Grizzly you evade a Jason-like stalking murderer while trying to find a combo of items to trigger a finale I played with original rules 6-handed (!), winning on the easiest setting boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/44...
I played Chess Joker twice with 17yo. He's a chess-knower and being good at chess was still the decider He liked seeing unusual board positions. I liked having curveball options and trying an alt victory on points. boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/44... #boardgame
13yo was bored so I offered to teach a game. She wanted something fantasy themed and fighty I pulled BattleLore: Second Edition off the shelf. She won the introduction scenario 16 to 13 with a successful desperate ploy on the final turn. boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/14... #boardgame
How am I supposed to work under these conditions?
Tonight's family game was a 17 person Eat Poop You Cat - our biggest ever! boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/30... #boardgame
Twilight Struggle with 17yo - his 6th play was the first to reach endgame scoring He again took an early tight grip of Europe, but the rest of the world slipped through his fingers and a desperate Turn 10 play for West Germany could not change his fate boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/12... #boardgame
Twilight Struggle with 17yo. He learned his lesson from the previous game and took an early stranglehold of Europe and easily won in the Mid-War despite suffering 4 lost turns from Bear Trap boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/12... #boardgmae
#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched Catch Me If You Can Backrooms The Talented Mr. Ripley Obsession For the first time ever my kids washed to see movies in the theater. I was already interested in Backrooms, but Obsession is not normally my speed. Now my 17yo can say it's not his speed either 😂
Most epic game of Twilight Struggle with 17yo yet USSR was firmly in the lead, but political realignment from a Turn 10 Tear Down This Wall wrested East Germany away and gave my US a Europe Control victory just as all seemed lost boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/12... @gmtgames.bsky.social #boardgame
Played my 50th game of Twilight Struggle today when 17yo asked me to teach it. He guided the USSR to a victory in turn 5 after a disasterous early war for my US. boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/12... #boardgame
Once more, but with the roles reversed. Fernet wins again, but this time that's good because that's me! Shout LIVE had me down to 1 HP remaining but Fernet's airstrike patterns are so potent...if you have the nerve to wait long enough to maximize them boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/30... #boardgame
Played a game of solo Bullet - a spatial puzzle game emulating bullet hell arcade shooters. Fernet's Airship Fleet wrecked me. She seems tough, and a particularly bad matchup for Shout's playstyle boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/30... #boardgame
Babe wake up, new death metal band logo just dropped
#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched Send Help The Nice Guys LA Confidential Memento 17yo asked for something Lebowski-like so I threw on Nice Guys and that chained into the next two
Lost Ruins of Arnak is an easy 10/10 for me - always want to play - will never turn down a game. The BGA implementation is excellent - I only wish it included the expedition leaders! boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/31... #boardgame
May I present to you a birthday gift from my daughter - a rendering of our cat, named Josh Allen, in a pose from football player Josh Allen
For my birthday I invite you all to check out Widow's Bay on Apple TV. It's a delightfully creepy cross of Parks and Rec and Twin Peaks. It's quickly become a must watch for the family - even our 13yo, and she rarely likes anything!
When someone gives a mealy mouthed response to our FB group questions I'll take a quick peek at their profile to see if it's just a decline or someone to block. Reader, I have never noped out of a profile faster. Anti-"woke", transphobia, xenophobia, block block block block block!
