Music theory prof interested in too many things, and too many sports teams. Currently writing about Amy Beach and video game music (not at same time). Midwesterner stranded in the Mid-Atlantic. Swim dad, happiest in/on water.
grades are in for the summer class so I'm rewarding myself with a virtual trip to the archive(.org)
I remember seeing you post about the greater perfect system and still forgot to try any. I did get some points for neume, but got the most for jaspe, a rough fabric weave that’s described on the tag of a shirt I have
Hit "Genoise" on the very last word. Thank you Paul Hollywood.
End of another swim season. The kid worked hard and set another PB. The way I know "6-7" is over is that I did the hand gesture in response to her time drop. Not only did I not get a smile or an eye roll, I didn't even get a glimmer of recognition. It's like it never even happened.
Meanwhile, Tesla says hold my beer, dropping a full 25% of its stock value in three weeks. So at least all the worst people you know will never retire either.
It's been a tough swim season: it's frustrating when you're just fast enough to be the 5th or 6th kid in the top heat. All-county time standards drop ~4 seconds each time you age up. But she's worked hard all summer. Needed a 24.23 in the 25 Back at the last meet, and guess what she turned in...
kids were very excited for my season debut this morning. (we're a smaller team and rarely host a parent relay at halftime, as the bigger teams do. But we haven't had any at our away meets this year, so the coach was like "why not?")
It is really looking that way now that I've duct taped a nose cone on!
Parenthood is endless adventure. Today I'm building a cardboard boat for my older daughter to race in tomorrow. It will either be the fastest thing on water, or it will sink immediately. No in-between.
I'm on a couch more associated with Ohio State - Michigan games and playoff football (and yes, that's Cavs championship in 2016). So what's a big game without a Great Lakes Christmas Ale?
at home in Ohio, having una pausa de hidratacion with my traditional visiting home cup
Name a TV show you're positive no one remembers but you en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mega_Ma...
Couldn't remember what the book was called. It seems that I exponentially underestimated...
Now I sign on to find a spreadsheet the registrar shared, and even the apps are gone. It's all Copilot now. Bonus: not only are none of those links what I need, but every single one is broken! That's right, this webpage does NOTHING but prompt you to talk to Copilot. You can't do any actual work.
I just wish tech companies would work on solving the problems people really want to solve
Quick, somebody call Architectural Digest (I'm realizing as I approach the finish line that we have chosen to paint our foyer almost precisely the same shade as the main reading room in Harvard's music library.)
After baseboards last weekend, it's crown molding today. Warming up teaching myself some remedial woodshop.
I wanted a new Miami hat, since the ones I have from college aren't appropriate for adult life (incl. a vintage Redskins cap and a retro one that abbreviates "Miami of Ohio" as MOFO.) Thought about going with a Miami Basketball hat, but picked something closer to home (plus, if you know you know 😎)
for your budding Walter White, just disposing of their first body
On this topic: a suburban Baltimore deli (THB) will sell you these for Maryland Day (March 25, I learned during the process of composing this skeet)
Susan McClary published Feminine Endings in 1991. Carolyn Abbate, Unsung Voices, also 1991. Meanwhile, music theorists in 1991: what if we could rank how much different pitch class sets like to fuck
I’m not kidding (Cameo: latest project. Ive had a bass in two pieces sitting in my office for a month, which she has very kindly not commented on. When I pointed that out to her, she just said “oh, I assumed you had a plan.” What a keeper.
