as much as I hate losing more money to Old Line Plate, I sprung for a $5/month Railway project hosting to mirror my database. There's something thrilling about "logging in" to it. Currently it wont work on my ipad which defeats my purpose (viewing my database in bed lol) but i'll get there
January is rough but so far this year I got to throw rocks through surface ice on a river AND poke puffball mushrooms with a stick, on two separate hikes so who knows what joys await.

I have my ingredient parser working so well but I feel like I spend way too much time noting all of the bajillion ways people name things like "soda" for "baking soda" or "Crisco oil" vs shortening, its fun turning this stuff into data... to a point.
Started trying to do reporting on my cookbook extractions and it became apparent that I finally needed some unit conversions. Doing so instantly made things so much more interesting. I checked for typos but the ginger ale thing is solely due to recipes for large volumes of punch
i've had two people in the past week tell me my public speaking has become much more professional and relaxed. One who first saw me in 2022 and thought I was new to it then (started in 2018 actually!) But needless to say.. nice to hear!! Old Line Plate, now with 30% less "um".

I had a system worked out for my tour to run smoother and got the rug yanked out from under me at the last minute.. but the books arrived on time and look pretty good at least. It’s hard to accept less than perfection when it was in my grasp but i need to stop trying to be the “best” and just *be*
