Fantastic turn out from Kelham Island and Neepsend Community Association this morning. They were out clearing weeds on Ball Street bridge and litter picking along the river path to Rutland Road 👏🏼
One of my Dad's old photographs. Taken from what's now Poundland , looking into the 'Hole in the road'. Wetherspoons on the left #Sheffield
For decades Sheffield has been full of car parks. Not purpose built, but land cleared of old workshops and housing. With nothing to build, we parked cars instead. Crushed brick, tarmac in time. Now the land is coming back to life 🙌 #Sheffield
The Odyssey is one of two major epics of ancient Greek literature attributed to Homer. However, up until tonight that was the extent of my knowledge on the topic. Therefore, I was like a kid in a sweet shop, watching Christopher Nolans film version. Superb.. in fact epic 🎬
I feared for the worse when Monki closed down, but arguably the unit has had an upgrade #Sheffield
Family history throws up some amazing stories. My Great Grandfather had a cousin Walter Holbem. Born in 1884, he grew up around Heeley , at 16 he was a table knife grinder. But football was to change his life, initially with Heeley Friends. Later Sheffield Wednesday... 🧵
All up and running now. Well done to all involved in the newly named 'Neepsend Pit Stop' 👏🏼👍
9 years after the Grenfell fire and the scaffolding finally coming off Wicker Riverside. The final cladding remediation seems to be going on. A slow and painful process , that at one stage saw residents of parts of the block moved out #Sheffield
Superb home town gig. Wasn't expecting the Depeche Mode and David Essex covers 🎵
I'd not noticed, it looks like it's just been hacked back to make way for the concrete foundations
Chesterfield Canal update. On the left the new locks is largely complete, with the gate now on. On the right, huge progress for the canals onward route out towards Renishaw #Canal
Such a beautiful building. It escaped the devastation of the blitz, hopefully a suitable business moves in and keeps this piece of Old Sheffield alive 🙏
Starting life as George's Coffee House, acquired by the Sheffield Banking Co in 1831. The building was acquired by the National Provincial Bank in 1919. Later a Nat West and most recently home to Curzon cinema. Sadly, closing its doors due to falling trade #Sheffield
Fitzalan Square dressed up for the World Cup 1966. It's coming home 🏴

I was up at the University the other night , for an superb gig in Firth Hall. Wakefire 'an Incantation to Summer'. It was a bit warm in there and it was a joy to cool off in the Quadrangle during the interval #Sheffield
Good news for Castlegate. The former Tap & Barrel (aka Bull & Mouth) pub is being taken on by @sheffieldlive.bsky.social Initially, broadcasting operations will move in, with aspirations for a performance place and community hub #Sheffield
The building on the left is Weston House, the former home of Eliza and Anne Harrison. These were the daughters of Thomas Harrison, a saw manufacturer in Hollis Croft. After their death, the house and land were purchased for the City Museum, Weston Park #Sheffield
Quality gable end art at DAC Metal Recycling on Sussex Street #Sheffield

First stage of a new safe cycling route under construction, along Furnival Road. Once complete will run up into Attercliffe. Unlike the rest of the City a fairly flat route #Sheffield
Looking great down there. Thanks to the bloke on the coffee trailer who gave Lily and Daisy a little pup cup of cream 😍 #Sheffield
If you've been thinking of checking out Victoria Quays, Today is the day. Nice food, drink and stalls #Sheffield
I've been to a family 'do' at the Swan at Ridgeway. Got the angle wrong again, I blame the beer going down too well 🍺
Not quite the same angle, but decent then and now, approx 50 years apart. Electric Works replacing Sheaf Valley Baths in the foreground #Sheffield
