About 29.5 cents a kWh in New Jersey My Polestar2 gets about 4.2 miles a kWh in the summer, much worse in the winter. 7 cents a mile 50 mpg at $3.50 So maybe not cheaper, but about the same to fuel as a civic hybrid. There is also a $250 a year fee to own an EV in NJ.

The squirrels in my yard have developed a taste for the delicious corn they hide inside gas. So they eat my gas tanks. By switching to electric I should be safe until the bunnies develop a taste for lithium.

Slowly trying to diagnose the nuisance cold start issue with the 300TE. Using the smoke machine to test for vacuum leaks. Did I need to 3D print a TPU adapter to preform the test? Probably not, but it did make it easy. No leaks detected.
I was playing around with the Volvo EX60 Configurator and while it looks like a decent package, I fear with EV's we may never get a decent tailgate/cargo area again. Look how hilariously small the actual opening is and how ludicrously high the floor is.

If you want floor mats for your RHD 1991 Mercedes 300TE in the United States there are not many options. They are not cheap, but i have to say the Coco Mats are really nice. I wish I got them for the Saab over the Loyds.

My pool has one line that was disconnected when I got it. It’s has started both leaking and somehow sucking in air. How?! I don’t have the bandwidth to learn 50 year old pool plumbing at the moment so I 3d printed a TPU plug to buy time. Somehow it works.
One plumber came back with an astronomical estimate to fix a leak in the drain stack. Another plumber said, "well cut some holes until you find the problem." Cutting holes I can do. Theres the problem.
I don’t have the time or patience for difficult to apply automotive coatings anymore. I’ve tried this new pure bead coating by Turtle Wax and it’s pretty good so far. Super simple to apply, been on the car for about a month and is holding up well.

The dealer told me I needed new tires. Not to seem like a tire cheapskate, but I sure as hell can make it through the warm weather months with 4.5 mill left. Fun fact rear wheels are slightly wider in the rear of the Polestar2 Performance, so you can’t rotate the tires.

Rumor has it Volvo banked the $10 an hour labor rate premium it charges over Polestar to save up for the bribe it paid to remain un-banned in the United States. Rookie move Polestar.
The Volvo rehab was going swimmingly until I dropped the old grease covered power steering pump. The return line of the reservoir snapped off. My car has the later reservoir that integrates into the pump. I could convert to an external tank, but I’m going to take a shot at plastic welding.
When we went to the 1 modern car 3 old car fleet the theory was that we would always have the modern car for challenging driving and at least 1 running classic for errands. With the Polestar and Volvo in the shop, and 105 degree weather approaching we are testing the limits of this theory.
The Volvo actually ran a little cool so while the coolant is drained I’m replacing the 87C thermostat with an 88C thermostat. That should take care of it.
The thing about the Volvo 240 is that it really Is that easy to work on and parts availability is excellent. It’s really does make a great “beginner’s classic” Plus look how far back that engine is, practically front mid engined.
I’ve decided to just do the steering rack, power steering pump and radiator all at once on the Volvo. Taking my time. So the expansion tank gets a nice little soak and scrub in the slop sink.
I found a small leak on the steering rack, so it looks like a bigger project is in my future.
Now that the MB is running strong on its new injectors, the Volvo moves into the garage for its spa treatments. A shiny new radiator with luxurious silicon hose upgrade package.

I’m not surprised that you can obtain every part you need to keep your Model A running forever. I am somewhat surprised there is enough of a market to support a full page print ad for Model A crate engines.
