Order of the Sacred Earth
@orderofsacredearth
A global & intergenerational community of visionary activists who have vowed to be the best lovers & defenders of the Earth that we can be. Find us at Learn more here:
#CreationSpirituality is about recovering #nature and all of #creation as #sacred again, supporting #eco-activists and others seeking social, racial, gender and environmental justice. #LoveProtect+DefendMotherEarth bit.ly/4sqRlZ3
Skylar Wilson: "Creative & empowering movements are spreading around the world, fr urban centers to wild rural villages. Our times require bringing together & sharing the diverse array of cultural wisdom accessible now w/in a global understanding." bit.ly/4hkaVA6
CarolVaccariello: "The more we open to Earth in her relationship to Cosmos & the awareness Heaven is right here, the more passionate we will be about caring for her as she cares for us. The OSE wd be a powerful vehicle raising awareness of Earth's [sacredness] & life-providing call. bit.ly/4oZpbkG
Skylar Wilson: "We have an opportunity to practice living courageously....to let go, empty ourselves, & open to more of our common purpose....to inhabit something deeper while becoming attuned to all of the ways that we are supported by the Earth." bit.ly/4hkaVA6
Skylar Wilson: "Our culture is changing so quickly that the youth have much to teach older generations. At the same time, older generations are the gatekeepers to the wisdom and memory of the past." bit.ly/4hkaVA6
DeborahSantana: "We are all responsible for our Earth....for our children & their children, for the future of creation & life. We are not helpless bystanders... We must be attentive & mindful of everything we touch so our presence on this planet does no harm." bit.ly/4hkaVA6
DeirdreBCombs: "The archetype of the warrior boldly takes up the sword or the pen or the placard & steps into the fray while the mystic holds our innate interconnectedness, uncertainty, & insignificance. Siding only w/ 🧠 or ❤️ will lead you astray & worse, put others at risk." bit.ly/45gj8kE
@davidkorten.bsky.social: "We are an intelligent, self-reflective species w/ powerful communication ntwks. This gives us the capacity to learn, to change, & perhaps become [healers] for the Earth we have so abused. It begins w/ our pledge to be healing lovers & protective warriors." bit.ly/3WRTQFD
An #economicsystem based on #community, not on rapacious #profit —that is what a vow to support Mother Earth requires. That is a twenty-first century version of the #vowofpoverty. bit.ly/4k1KUr6 #modernmonastic #lifeofpurpose
Democratic & socialist stds of self-governance have changed the world. But we also see fascism, corporatism, & oligarchy. OSE mbrs stand up for the community of Earth dwellers incl individuals & commonwealth, future generations of human & nonhuman beings, the biosphere, & the planet. bit.ly/4k1KUr6
The #monasticvow of Stability committed monks to remain in the same monastery lifelong. A personal #modernvow may be a commitment to study, learn to love, & stand up for our bioregion, becoming conscious eco-citizens wherever we are. bit.ly/4k1KUr6 Photo: #ShantiLeprahilfe tree planters, Nepal.
Reflection on economics/money, government/community organization, & sexuality reminds #OrderOfTheSacredEarth members that these issues are always present at the forefront of the human condition & our interactions with others. bit.ly/4k1KUr6
We recognize that the traditional monastic vows said something profound about three profound dimensions of human reality: economics and money; government, decision-making, and community organization; and sexuality. What wisdom does vow-taking offer us today? bit.ly/4k1KUr6
If we are to hope of a positive outcome to the disaster we have wrought, it begins w/ an expression of human love & commitment to the #SacredEarth we now abuse. Our failure to contribute to Earth’s healing may end Earth’s unique contribution to Creation. bit.ly/3WRTQFD
Spirituality requires a love of one’s place, #roots in one’s place, being at home within one’s locale. This relationship to place is part of the first chakra and it is also the meaning of humility, which comes from the Latin word for “earth.” bit.ly/4k1KUr6
We are called to ensure that children come into the world w/ guidance, care & support of loving families, w/o placing undue burdens upon the planet’s resources. We are called to protect our partners from 💔, abuse & abandonmt, & protect all genders from bigotry, discrimination & hate. bit.ly/4k1KUr6
The world needs a profound expansion of human consciousness to move us beyond Tribalism to a consciousness of the whole. The vow we share in common is a vow of service that supports those in service to Earth and one another. bit.ly/4k1KUr6
We say the Order of the Sacred Earth is “not religious” because it will not be beholden to any religious headquarters or to only one religious tradition. More and more people are open in our times to the many spiritual traditions and practices that sustain life. bit.ly/3Ql5rsN
We also need spirituality to remind us of the sacred dimensions to sexual experience, the return of the wild God of passion amidst mutual exchange & communication & pleasure-giving. The conception & birth & raising of children adds to sexuality the element of Responsibility. bit.ly/4k1KUr6
Yes, we are witnessing the death of institutions & systems that no longer serve. We need to journey into this dying to break into new forms of community, religion, spirituality, & education: creativity to birth deeper forms of living and interacting on this small, intertwined planet. bit.ly/3Ql5rsN
The planet does not need another church or religion, but a spiritual movement uniting all peoples, belief/non-belief systems, genders, races, classes, abilities, nations; grounded in Wisdom traditions of East & West, uniting leading-edge science in peace with indigenous tradition. bit.ly/40UAOka
#WangariMaatthai: "Urge individuals not to wait for divine intervention, but to give themselves the energy they imagine, or pray that God will provide, & to recognize that God expects them to take action & rise up & walk!" bit.ly/4hkaVA6 #DoLikewise #ReforestEarth #OrderOfTheSacredEarth
Let us recognize the value of #simpleliving, resisting the dominant cultural myth about #consumerism, the idolatry of money and the addiction to shopping, spending, acquiring and discarding to “keep up with the Joneses.” bit.ly/4k1KUr6
@davidkorten.bsky.social: "We have assumed that Earth exists for us. But we are now learning that we exist only as part of Earth, and that it may need our help to restore its healthy function as much as we need it." bit.ly/3WRTQFD Photo: permaculturist Denis Doyen at restored spring; IGiveTrees.org.
Earth is adding its own release of sequestered carbons to...threaten human survival even tho this ultimately threatens Earth’s own survival as a living being. It is not so diffrnt to what sometimes goes amiss w/in our own bodies in ...defend[ing] agst invasive organisms. ~ #D.Korten bit.ly/3WRTQFD
In these times, so marked by climate change, climate change denial & failures of education, media, politics, economics, & religion, we must not succumb to despair, non-action or reflex action-reaction. We need to go deeper w/in our souls to find anew “the beloved community.” bit.ly/3Ql5rsN
@davidkorten.bsky.social: "Individually, we are powerless against the forces of #death wrought by human #greed & #violence in humanity’s ultimately self-destructive war against #life. Only by acting together as lovers & #defenders of our #EarthMother will life prevail." bit.ly/3WRTQFD
“I promise to be the best lover and defender of Mother Earth that I can be.” This sacred pledge is a wisdom practice that we continually refine and develop as we evolve. This vow underscores the principles through which we operate and the values we strive to fulfill. bit.ly/3Ql5rsN
Our vision of a new order extends to those calling themselves #spiritualbutnotreligious; to those who are #spiritual & #religious, & to those who identify as either #agnostic or #atheist & feel the creative potential to build a community such as the Order of the Sacred Earth. bit.ly/3Ql5rsN
#SkylarWilson: It takes #courage to look deeply @ ourselves (&) live in radically new ways (&) explore what ecosocially #conscious life looks & feels like in these...times. Luckily many courageous ppl are listening & acting upon these calls to change. bit.ly/4hkaVA6
