The Fat of the Land was how dance music first got its claws into me, as Liam Howlett used rocks playbook to make an electronic album like no other and the Prodigy went mainstream. Vital. #pop #music #album

All Mod Cons is The Jam at their imperial best. Every song is a banger and Down at the Tube Station at Midnight is perhaps their best song. Excellent. #pop #music #album

The Madcap Laughs by Syd Barrett is uneven but wonderfully listenable with britpop influence obvious. Not something I knew anything about but enjoyed. #pop #album #music

Colour by Numbers by Culture Club has some huge hits and is really fun. #pop #music #album

Bone Machine by Tom Waits challenges but I liked it. Some great ideas and obviously his unique delivery. #pop #music #album

Fleet Foxes self titled album wasn't alien to me as I knew White Winter Hymnal but it's sumptuous American folk and I enjoyed it. #pop #music #album

On the other hand, I'm Your Man by Leonard Cohen is, despite it's cheesy 80s coat a very accessible and well written record that I enjoyed. #pop #music #album

L'eau Rouge by the Young Gods was an interesting listen. It took about half the album to realise what this was. It wasn't really for me but worth a listen. #pop #music #album

Now I Got Worry by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion is very 90's. I have a vague memory of liking their stuff but no specific songs stick. This was ok. #pop #album #music

I've got a long way behind on posting these and a few behind on listening. From very late June, A Wizard, A True Star by Todd Rundgren is all over the place. Side 1 I hated, and side 2 was merely meh. #pop #music #album

Well Spa was amazing. Will get the photos up soon. We stayed Sunday night which was a good choice and made good time yesterday, getting an earlier Eurostar and home by 6:10. The race was great, and Abby was high as a kite. Just decompressing and tidying today. #formula1

Phil mentioned you did. Had what was probably one fly over the track but not a lot else. Great fun though. Dutch techno kept going until 2am last night so we are a little sleep deprived.

Sat eating breakfast in a campsite of nations at Spa. The Dutch getting rowdy and the techno starting to blare. A good night's sleep and prepping for a day of qualifying at Spa. #formula1 #grandprix

Many hours later and we are at Folkestone waiting for our train. Lots of people heading to Spa. Alas 90 mins of delays. #formula1 #grandprix

Off to the Belgian GP at Spa- Francochamps with Abby. First stop Maccas for a greasy breakfast and then onto Le Shuttle 280 miles south #formula1 #grandprix

James Spencer@ornid· Jul 4 Resurrected the tent ahead of going to the Belgian GP. Additional mod cons acquired and giving the new mattress a dry run. S'mores went down well with the girls.

James Spencer@ornid· Jun 29 Pretenders first self-titled album is a post punk pop rock crossover record and Kid and Brass in Pocket are amazing. #pop #music #album

James Spencer@ornid· Jun 29 Roger the Engineer by The Yardbirds is an album that developed rock music and 60s blues rock but underwhelmed me compared to the titanic records that followed #pop #album #music

James Spencer@ornid· Jun 29 Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain by Pavement is the mainstream arrival and it's a solid alt rock record. More conventional that their other records. #pop #album #music

James Spencer@ornid· Jun 29 Dub Housing by Pere Ubo is post punk done right with sharp angular guitars and tension throughout. Like Bloc Party a generation early. #pop #music #album

James Spencer@ornid· Jun 29 Welcome to the Pleasuredome by Frankie Goes to Hollywood is filled with some amazing songs and some huge misses. Always adventurous and fun. #pop #music #album

James Spencer@ornid· Jun 29 Amongst a run of classics, Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme by Simon and Garfunkel is incredible. Powerful songs that sound simple but are layered and delightful. #pop #music #album

James Spencer@ornid· Jun 29 Highly Evolved by the Vines escaped the landfill indie era and survives with greater credit than it got at the time. A fabulous selection #pop #album #music

James Spencer@ornid· Jun 29 The White Album by The Beatles is filled with ideas. Some great, some not so much, all inventive. I really enjoyed this from Helter Skelter to Dear Prudence. #pop #music #album
