This is what I bought! Screentone, poster color, kakuno fountain pens (love these), and a book by Mateusz Urbanowicz and a Studio Ghibli background book. Both of the books are great!
Day 14. Final night in Japan. Shinjuku and more conveyor belt sushi (this place had a mini game too). We packed our things and went to bed early. (The drawing says day 15, but this is day 14)
Day 13. Breakfast was served in our room, just like dinner the day before. Travelled back to Tokyo and our final hotel. (The drawing says day 14, but this is day 13)
Day 12. Shinkansen to Hakone. Hakone was really beautiful! Incredible nature, shrines and buildings. We stayed at a hot spring traditional ryokan. We wished we had stayed another night. (The drawing says day 13, but this is day 12)
Day 11. Final day in Osaka! We went to the Osaka aquarium. I remember going here with my class in school when I lived here, it felt giant back then. We saw the Glico running man, and tried candied strawberries. (I messed up the days here, day 11 and 12 are the same day lol)
Day 10. We went to Kobe and Ashiya, and walked to the house I used to live in for a couple of years when I was very young. A tree covered most of the house though. Later, we went back to Osaka and went up a giant ferris wheel.
Day 9. Fluffy pancake/waffle with cream and ice cream. Lots of walking and sightseeing.
Day 8. Day trip to Nara deer park. In the evening we walked around the city. Loved the lights and atmosphere when it was dark outside. We tried and loved our first sushi conveyor belt dinner.
Day 7. Osaka! We saw the castle and ate amazing pancakes nearby. We went to an izakaya, then an Irish bar. The staff at both the izakaya and the bar were really friendly! We had an incredible day.
Day 6. We met up friends, ate delicious fried pork, and went to the Comitia comics festival with them. Then the shinkansen to Osaka and our hotel in Yodoyabashi.
Day 5. Kitchenware street and lots of walking. We saw lanterns on poles in Asakusa, which were part of a two-day festival.
Day 3. The instant coffee here is high tech and great. We went to Shinjuku and saw a compact and rad truck.
Day 2. Typhoon warning in Tokyo! We walked, saw boats and avoided the rain.
Day 1 in Japan! We tried to stay awake, and saw Senso-ji in Asakusa.
Travel day! Haven’t drawn for a couple of days. Just trains, airports and flights today.
9 days left. A friend who lives in Japan has gotten us tickets to the comics festival comitia!
Me and my fiancée are going to Japan for 2 weeks, and I thought it would be fun to draw a diary of our trip 🇯🇵 10 days until we go!
I was asked about drawing belts on Tumblr a little while ago. So here's a small tutorial on my approach to drawing belts!
Sad news. Hermann Huppen has done some incredible work. 'The Towers of Bois-Maury' has been a big inspiration to me. Rest in peace
