in this regard i kind of prefer the synopsis of the original 2013 chapter book which has Cadance ascends on her own and ends up meeting Celestia through that. (rise of cadance loosely adapts this story but removes the alicorning part)
now, we have only ever seen one other alicorn ascension ever depicted within the timeframe of FiM which is the Rise of Cadance comic. i have problems with Rise of Cadance's depiction of how Cadance becomes an alicorn, because it has Celestia just fucking yeet Cadance into alicornhood.
i say this because i've never ever liked the idea that twilight's alicornhood was "forced onto her". Celestia absolutely knew the ascension was *coming*, she sings about it in her Ballad - but she didn't *give* it to Twilight. I like the idea more that the other alicorns are merely guiding figures.
something i think about a lot is that i think people don't really process that Celestia doesn't exactly 'give' Twilight her alicornhood. The magic that transforms Twilight comes from within herself. Celestia was just there to ease her into it. The alicorn ascension was Twilight's *own doing*.
