My 2023 photo of the same area. You can really see the difficulty of fighting a fire in there. They may not bother unless it moves toward more inhabited areas or I-90, which isn't likely.

It's just me, the squirrels, and a Pileated Woodpecker knocking around in there somewhere.

"The water thing is overblown!" Meanwhile Meta crowing that they stopped discharging into the region's wastewater system and took it offsite. Offsite to where? Discharging out of sight into rivers and aquifers? Down drains in Colorado instead? Storing it in big leaky barrels?

This is beyond hyperbolic absurdity. I was at the Cortina Olympics. I encountered no abuse of people rooting for US athletes, or carrying a US flag, or wearing US gear. People around the globe are worried about us, they want us to overcome trumpism, but they know the blame sits w/ HIM & his voters.

Oh, wait! It's #ThursJay?? This guy was wondering what the hell I thought was so exciting when he plopped down.

It's the start of Oregon Grape (Mahonia) fruit season! The berries are gorgeous right now, in shades of soft green to dark purple, depending on ripeness. Birds, coyotes, foxes, and bears love to feast on them once they're fully ripe. 💚💜 #NativePlants

A cluster of Oregon Grape berries dangling from a sturdy branch. The clusters are often sheltered from above by the thick, prickly leaves of the plant. This cluster holds dozens of fruits in varying stages of ripeness, from small and pale green, to pinkish-green as they grow, and then full sized and purple, darkening to bluish-black with full ripening. The berries are hard and tart, and are covered with a powdery substance, giving them a matte, solid appearance (as opposed to a blackberry's juicy shiny gleam).

I can't stop looking at this slum-lord fix-it job.

A mother crow and one of her offspring stand on opposite sides of a bird bath. The fledgeling has its mout wide open begging for food (there is some in the water and she's been teaching them to eat for themselves). We had a minor fledgeling crow vs picture window incident this morning, but the toddler landed on a cushioned chair and then flew off immediately. Now it's sitting in the tree getting plenty of love and snacks. #Birds
