I was accepted onto the London Library’s Emerging Writers programme a year ago after submitting a piece about the time I saw Sunn O))) and the ceiling started to crumble. The programme finished on Sunday and, in an enjoyable moment of synchronicity, Sunn O))) played Brighton last night.
And followed it up with a dose of MERZBOW at @iklectikartlab.bsky.social courtesy of @babayagashut.bsky.social
Featuring these cultural artefacts... Really enjoyed the haptic sonic experience and felt like the colonial historical context was a vital inclusion.
Took a trip around the fascinating 'The Music Is Black' exhibition at the V & A East yesterday...
Back smothering dreams this weekend with a total banger of a lineup: The energetic screamo of @ritualerror.bsky.social Aku's punk thrash And some poptimistic jangle from @themoats.bsky.social Cop a cheap advance ticket: www.ticketsource.com/dream-smothe...
Even found time away from the musical mayhem to roam a little through the wilderness...
Just E the Artist crashing a lifetime of genres into one invigorating sound collage
This was shortly followed by the witty and charismatic Ultan O'Brien
A beautiful moment of synchronicity occured on Sunday. I was reading @zakiasewell.bsky.social's superb 'Finding Albion' whilst a band sound checked and, at the exact moment I finished the book, MacGillivray began their set, perfectly manifesting the book's optimistic ideas in front of my very eyes.
And then Lord Spikeheart erupted into the tent, whipping the whole place into a total frenzy
Setting up in the round, Bégayer delivers a joyous and playful set made up of textural percussion, masks, and piggybacks... Best I've seen 'em yet
Overcoming technical difficulties, @bruiseblood.bsky.social were in pounding form.
