A new addition at the Perry Pear National Orchard Centre in Hartpury 🍐

A Hartpury Green Perry Pear carved from stone with a wrought iron stalk sitting on a plinth. My clay German tankard is enjoying a prime position. In front of the plinth is a frame holding a sheet describing the pear, how it was made and who crafted it.

A plastic pint (because there's a music festival in town) bearing a poem (bearing geddit? No, okay..) It says "The Old Black Bear. In forests deep, a bear of age, with fur so dark, a weathered page. He's seen the seasons turn and fall, and heard the whispers of the wall. With gentle paws and wisdom deep, he watches over all that sleep. A guardian strong, a silent friend, the old black bear will never end." It's on a table in The Black Bear Tewkesbury.

Apologies to everyone in Gloucestershire yesterday that had to endure me reading the news for the first time in more than two years. Whilst there was not enough in the way of animal stories for my liking, I did go large on Leather Shorts, Wooden Stools and Puddles of Beer. Off the subs bench 🎙️📰

🛍️ Had a look at the Cotswold Designer Outlet near Tewkesbury this afternoon 🏪 It's an optimistic name, it's not in The Cotswolds, although you can see the hills from the car park ↗️ But plenty of that famous colour in the stonework on the shops 🧱 Busy car park too for a Wednesday afternoon 🅿️

🚣🍖🏞️🌞 The River Wye at Lower Lydbrook is one of the best places in Gloucestershire during the summer. People gather on the river bank to share a barbecue. Paddlers float by, some taking a dip when their balance goes. And others cool off in the river.
