The resemblance to industry recommendations is hardly surprising. The rapporteurs met only with agribusiness representatives while preparing the report. They had zero meetings with health groups or scientists.

The overall direction is clear: reduce independent scientific scrutiny, curtail Member States' ability to act, and make it easier for pesticides to remain on the market indefinitely.

While the Commission Omnibus proposal already weakens key safeguards -by introducing unlimited approvals for active substances, restricting Member States' ability to act on new scientific evidence, expanding derogations & extending grace periods- this report would make it worse.
