Starting on a Dark Elf Hydra, not a super old model (I think it was 2012 or 13?) but no longer for sale given that the sorceress on foot is the only DE model still up in Cities of Sigmar. Glad I nabbed one when I did.
According to FB it was 9 years ago I made oozes out of hot glue for my DnD games. I poured hot glue onto a metal ruler then turned it upside down so it would run and ooze.
Good representation in a game setting like 40k is one of those things fraught with missteps and unexamined blind spots, and how different peoples and cultures show up in Space Marines is no exception.
“All hail the martyrs! On their blood is our Imperium founded” Looks like we will be founding 3 Imperiums today. Catch! Reductus Saboteur finally finished. Time to add another mook unit. #WarhammerCommunity #Nerdlings11thEd
Rule of cool and all that, but as a motorbike rider whenever I see motorbike melee I cringe internally. "Lets high speed two wheel fight... but no touchy my handlebars!"
WIP The mini rolls on. As per usual, I've finished all the matt materials and varnished it to unify the lack of gloss. Now to add the metal and other shiny stuff. #WarhammerCommunity #Nerdlings11thEd
New Necromunda (still my favorite setting/sub game) bloodbowl big guys and I did not expect to see Exodites. Definitely some interesting previews
WIP. My 11th edition intro mini continues. Finished up the 1st pass - Matt materials based and washed/shadowed. Its now at it's messiest point. Next I start cleaning and highlighting it up. #WarhammerCommunity #Nerdlings11thEd
Gonna have to disagree with the mutants not being routine bit. It very much leans on the fact that a lot of mutations are view as 'stable' or useful, or not reported or not different enough by the weird of them imperium to be considered 'mutants'
And that's just the tip of the freakish iceberg as far as body horror and weird psyker shit in the 40k universe that everyday folk are exposed to, a few ridges on a GSC would barely warrant a second glance. The people who live in that universe are not us, do not have our sensibilities.
GSC are an uprising of the common (alien influenced) people. There's practical limits on the scope of a minis range so its mainly miners, which works in setting to hide to more obviously alien GSC. But I'll be mixing other folk in, esp as my uprising takes place on Necromunda. #WarhammerCommunity
Its never just minis. The ever present 'hidden' costs of being a hobby keeno. Replacement paints, nippers, airbrush, cleaning supplies.
Some people paint the back to warp it back, but its very hit and miss. I myself stick with 3mm MDF, because its cheap and can be cut with a heavy box cutter by multi scoring it. and But still need to clamp it while it dries and even then large pieces can still warp.
Got very little done, but not for lack of trying (just slow). The white elements and bone claws are done to mid point. Hot pink is down for later orange. Mini about 35% done. HAPPY ARMAGEDDON DAY WARHAM NERDS! #WarhammerCommunity #Nerdlings11thEd
I may have not fully accounted for several things. 1. I had unexpected visitors. 2. Its cold and damp, drying is super slow. 3. I am the slowest painter on earth and the beer isn't helping. But even though I only just finished the bases, I'm still going. Hope you are too. :)
While waiting for drying minis I'm youtube'n & there is a new grifter vid, using another grifter as a source, claiming a *new* diorama for 11th ed from GW with no Fem-custodes proves GW are tying to hide them. Said diorama appears in a March 25 article almost a year before the minis were announced.
Painting misadventures sorted. Black prime, grey from horizontal up & finally Wraithbone zen. This is my usual for GSC to get a base colours for the off white armour. A little redundant here as there is so little of it on this mini, but its my starting place. #WarhammerCommunity #Nerdlings11thEd
Cold weather is making drying time between airbrush coats take ages, so I'm filling the gap with coffee and silly photoshops.
And an auspicious start to the painting activity for me, as my black primer had a clogged nozzle and exploded as I attempted to put a bit in my mixing cup! #WarhammerCommunity #Nerdlings11thEd
Now obviously they can be however big they want to be, rule of cool and space magic in play. But I thought this was odd enough to bother for the joke. :) But if you want to illustrate them early mini accurate, its more like this :P
Dirty maths I could have wrong to calculate SM head size if it continues to grow consistent with humans. "At 2y infants heads are 80% final size" Adult 5'8" - Head 8" 2y 2'6" - Head 6.4" SM - 7"6" Thus for every additional inch of height between 2y & Adult, head grows 0.042 inches, so SM head 8.92"
Time to make anatomically correct pin head space marines a thing! You know, kinda like the Koopers.
I love that the imperium of man is so mismanaged, so witless that this guy is undercover as an official member of the Astra Militarum. Suffer not the xeno... What? No! That's Claw Hand Frank, hes fine. Just got promoted to sergeant!
I'll be returning to my GSC army for this edition and adding to my already painted pool of minis. At some point I will update the minis I painted in classic genestealer colours to my green and bone scheme, but that's pretty far down the priority list. #WarhammerCommunity #Nerdlings
Ad comes across my dash. Me: "That's an interesting mini base" (Too hobby obsessed)
Yay. We are getting a small core rule book again this edition. I like these, no need to pay for a repeat of the fluff I have read 100 times, no need to carry the bulk of a 300pg hardback to game. Now if only they would do this with army books also.
