Ok but like... why do Nebraska police cars look like "Brandless" joke items?

A collection of items lacking brands where the packaging is blank white with the name of the item in ALL CAPS generic font. A white can sports the word "SODA" a white bag sealed at the top and bottom bears the word "CHIPS" a white rectangular box insists in large black capital letters that it contains CORN FLAKES and a package of 4 rolls of toilet paper has a large white sticker stating it is, indeed, TOILET PAPER. There are no colors or fonts related to recognizable branding.

As someone who's lived in Utah for nearly 20 years, I'm curious about these maps I keep seeing pop up, claiming it's broiling hot. Meanwhile, we're sliding into a pleasantly mild Spring with temperatures in the 50s-70s which isn't abnormal, according to the records > www.weather.gov/slc/Cliplot

A chart tracking the historical temperatures throughout March and their fluctuations over the last 100 or so years. It states the lowest temperature on record being in the high 20s on March 15th, 1880 while the highest temperature on record in March in Salt Lake City is recorded at 84 on March 21st 2026. Which does, at first blush, look incriminating but, considering the temperature drops out of the 80s and resumes more normal parameters after the 25th so that the historical highs are 4+ years ago for the 26th-31st, I'm intrigued by the panic. In fact, 2026 only appears on this chart 6 times, all aligning with the 'freak heatwave' from a week or so ago.

The current weather report predicts a continued return to 'normal' Spring weather with temperatures ranging in the 60s-70s with rain and spring storms. Not the broiling pits of hell people are flailing around about. :/

(3/3) ...with gas prices going the way they are, we had to make a hard decision. 17yrs w/o a vacation and that sweaty orange shitbird decides to drive up gas prices right as we were acclimating to the idea that life without our baby isn't the absolute worst cuz 'I guess, at least we can travel now'

The beginning of the subject line of 4 cancelled bookings. 2 for experiences (A dinner and river cruise thing in Moab and a tour around a ghost town outside St George) and 2 for the hotel rooms I'd reserved in both locations.

My wife: "I don't even know what an emdash is for" Me: "It's like a fancy comma that adds emphasis, mostly used by people with expensive degrees. Idk, English is full of weird grammar that's mostly rots in unicode archives these days. You know, like the interrobang" Wife: "WTF is an interrobang?!"

Yet another mostly forgotten grammatical symbol, the interrobang is essentially a combination of an exclamation point and a question mark. It's used exactly how you think it would be used.

I mostly remember it exists because it's got an amusing name.
