Dear Motorsport.com I am begging you to understand that "George Russell linked" and "Guenther Steiner thinks" do not mean the same thing. It's crazy to me how Steiner being *kind of funny* on DTS now means everyone treats him -- an abject failure of a team principal -- as some kind of soothsayer.
In Spider-Man 2, when Peter gives up being Spider-Man for a while, there's this headline. Statistically, this means Spider-Man was stopping 100K+ felonies and 400+ murders per year -- as in, one less murder per day. Hate to say it, but my guy should definitely *not* have stopped being Spider-Man.
Chuck, buddy, you gotta stop finding ways to make me post this every year.
Peak YouTube algo: Two shorts from the same MSN sketch, where the thumbnail for the second is literally just the next line of the sketch. YouTube knows what I want: 1) Brennan 2) More Brennan 3) Japanese woman playing two recorders at once with her nose* *a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
Is time with the family doggo the *only* reason I spend mother's day weekend at my mom's? Of course not. But, I mean... It's *a* reason.
Hey friends, I'll be at GDC later this month and have some open time I'd love to fill with meeting new folks! Especially if any of the descriptions in thread 🧵 apply to you, send me a DM/email, or ping me on the app, and we'll set something up! Looking forward to another great week with y'all ✌️✨
Not all good game design feels good to the player. If the character feels shitty, I'm failing to empathetically weld the player to them if I don't find an elegant way to make them feel (the right kind of) shitty, too. [note: I'm def not alone in this, but I've 100% had to die on this hill before]
Pro tip: when lighting/grading in UE5, you can use the HDR (Eye Adaptation) view to show a luminance histogram. By default, you'll notice it has the following color code: Blue = the target exposure Magenta = the measured exposure White = the compensated exposure* Green = the min/max exposure range
Here's another quartet of photos from my hike last weekend, playing around with that dreamy feel in the fog:
I have a goal this year to do 25+ hikes, with a focus on nature photography (and maybe, eventually, astrophotography). My first outing was last weekend, where a foggier-than-expected morning here in Colorado gave me an opportunity for a vibe I hadn't really tried before. Here's a few from the set:
Some posts will be gamedev (open-source tools I want to share, tutorials I want to make, etc.), but in light of being a *real human bean*, a lot will just be me. e.g., Another of my goals in 2025 is to do more nature photography; tomorrow I'll post some from my hike yesterday; here's a peek. (4/5)
Wanted to take a moment to reintro myself. Always been a bit of a lurker on socials, but I have a goal this year to engage more with my communities, so: I'm Parker. I'm a game director and dev with a passion for building systemic, empathetically impactful experiences. And this is my face 🧵 (1/5)
I'll be sharing more soon about what's next for me. Leaving the place that has been my home for the past 4+ years is a somber moment, but I'm also buoyed by the excitement of all the amazing people out there that I may have the privilege of working with next. Talk again soon✌️
This was my first #GDC, and a special one after 2 years head-down on an amazing new thing I can't wait to share 👀 But of all the new experiences this week, the very best part was getting to hug a couple of my teammates that I'd never met in person. This is what it's all about♥️
As with all my attempts at favoriting, the further you go down the list past the top 5, the more it's just a mush of "things that are brain-sticky right now" and the exact ranks are just noise. But man, just thinking about all of these... Games are so special, you guys. We're so lucky to have them.
