And this evening I watched David Byrne's American Utopia at Showroom... I hadn't realised it was the blueprint for his current Who Is The Sky, show which I saw live 3 weeks ago... fascinating to be able to properly see the staging and choreography. Fabulous!

BBC2 is showing a full evening of Paul Heaton progs on Saturday, including last year's concert live from Bramall Lane, Sheffield (it was great!), plus Housemartins and Beautiful South episodes too.

Rizzle Kicks at Y Not... surprisingly fun, and great horns, much bouncing around... and Rizzle senior on bass wins coolest Dad prize I knew nothing of these, but really enjoyed them.
Lottery Winners at Y Not... they are everywhere this summer, I've seen them 3 times, and skipped a 4th time last week! They do their thing. It's fun, there's gags, over-sharing, and audience participation...
Happy Mondays at Y Not festival this afternoon. Those tunes never age... perfect for a summer afternoon groove in a big field! Shaun and Bez like some mad middle-aged double act... the youngsters weren't quite sure what to make of them... "he's off his head, him"...
I also saw (and very much enjoyed) Radio Free Alice again, headlining Scruff of the Neck's Giant Squid stage... complete with, errr... jellyfish! #YNotFestival

2 years ago I missed Y Not, and this was the reason why... Freddie was found, after being missing for 7.5 months, and was recovering from surgery to fix his broken jaw following an RTA.
Mercury Prize nominations are out... Immediate Qs: Would they really give it to a compilation? Is Paul McCartney too old for this? Will it go to Newcastle again? ... Plus, an observation - there's quite a lot of pop on there

Brooke Combe at Tramlines... wow, what an incredible soul voice! Sadly her set was cut very short due to sound issues, but I'll definitely be booking next time she's touring.
Wolf Alice were sensational at Tramlines tonight! Really tight band, and Ellie's vocals soared. Bonus - great cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit too.
Highlight of the day today at Tramlines - Girl in the Year Above. Front woman Jennifer Ball is hugely charismatic, puts on an electric performance and has an incredible voice!
Apparently Courteeners were yet again the most requested band in Tramlines history. This field says differently. Lazy programming.
