Ruben Dias having to post this at all is a testament to how quickly lies spread across social media. People instinctively want to believe the absolute worst. Hopefully he and Maya Jama have good people around them, because the rumours flying around show no sign of slowing down.

I feel that when my 85-year-old grandad is asking me if I've cheated on my girlfriend because he's seen it repeatedly on the news, that's where I draw the line on what's acceptable and what's not. Maya and I have always had a relationship built on mutual respect. No line was ever crossed in that regard.

A lie told often enough can start to feel like the truth and for that reason I tell you that I didn't cheat, nor did l ever have the intention or temptation to. I believe Maya deserves all the respect in the world.

The reasons why we broke up are private and belong to us and we've both dealt with it in a very mature way. I've always chosen to remain silent on these matters as my personal life is my business only. But I also believe it's wrong to lie to people and to portray an opposite image of someone just for clickbait.

Respect me, respect Maya, and understand that not always one has to betray the other in order for a relationship to end.

With ALT text. It's genuinely unfathomable that Iran could extract all of these concessions from Trump. He's already claiming that the USA "won" the war despite this ceasefire being a farce, and the war an unnecessary clusterfuck that handed Iran a stronger hand to negotiate and rebuild with.

While the full 10-point plan has not been made public, Al Jazeera's Diplomatic Editor James Bays has reported that it includes the following:

-Fundamental commitment to non-aggression from the US.

-Controlled passage through the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with the Iranian armed forces, which in effect would mean that Iran retains its leverage over the waterway.

-An acceptance of Iran's nuclear enrichment programme.

-The lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions and resolutions against Iran.

-End of all resolutions against Iran at the International Atomic Energy Agency.

-End of all resolutions against Iran at the United Nations Security Council.

-The withdrawal of US combat forces from all bases in the region.

-Full compensation for damages suffered by Iran during the war -- to be secured through payments to Iran by ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

-The release of all Iranian assets and properties frozen abroad.

-The ratification of all these matters in a binding UNSC resolution.

With Alt text, it bears repeating that the UN Commission of inquiry concluded that *Israel* has committed genocide— not just Netanyahu, the IDF, or the Israeli government— the entire country. They're all complicit in committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

252. The Commission concludes on reasonable grounds that the Israeli authorities and Israeli security forces have committed and are continuing to commit the following actus reus of genocide against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, namely (i) killing members of the group; (ii) causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; (iii) deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; and (iv) imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group.

253. On incitement to genocide, the Commission concludes that Israeli
President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and then Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, have incited the commission of genocide and that Israeli authorities have failed to take action against them to punish this incitement. The Commission has not fully assessed statements by other Israeli political and military leaders, including Minister for National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir and Minister for Finance Bezalel Smotrich, and considers that they too should be assessed to determine whether they constitute incitement to commit genocide.

254. On the mens rea of genocide, the Commission concludes that statements made by Israeli authorities are direct evidence of genocidal intent. In addition, the Commission concludes that the pattern of conduct is circumstantial evidence of genocidal intent and that genocidal intent was the only reasonable inference that could be drawn from the totality of the evidence. Thus, the Commission
concludes that the Israeli authorities and Israeli security forces have had and continue to have the genocidal intent to destroy, in whole or in part, the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

255. The Commission concludes that the State of Israel bears responsibility for the failure to prevent genocide, the commission of genocide and the failure to punish genocide against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Just finished the 2nd episode of Chief of War. Jason Momoa spoke at length about accurately depicting Hawaiian unification, and the months he spent learning Ōlelo, the indigenous language of Hawaii. Visually stunning and absolutely spellbinding. Nobody should be complaining about subtitles.

I disagree that June 14th, 2025 will mark the ceremonial birth of a new form of American fascism. That was January 6th, 2021. The aversion from Democrats, Republicans, cable news networks, and legacy newspapers to accurately label Trump and his followers fascists every day afterwards led us here.

All are important parts of the story. Yet commentary is muted and the debate mischaracterized as normal political discourse. The horrific point is missed: the spectacle of a massive show of military might, before a president who behaves like a dictator and views the armed forces as his personal foot soldiers, evinces memories of the worst totalitarian regimes. History may mark 14 June 2025 as the ceremonial birth of a new American fascism.

When Trump demands that the James Webb Telescope be renamed after him instead as a condition for NASA funding to continue, nobody should be surprised. He's insufferable enough to do it too.

The Trump administration is reportedly planning to cut NASA's science budget in half, eliminating future space telescope and other astrobiology projects. If that happens, Dr. Krissansen-Totten said, "the search for life elsewhere would basically stop."

Reading well-reasoned analysis of what it means to have fascism on Canada's doorstep and how much worse it could get in the US is refreshing. Jonathan Pedneault musing on the 2026 midterm elections being called off or the potential for violence is prescient too. We have to be ready for anything.

Pedneault:

I think that the US is heading in a very dangerous direction. I would not bet on there being midterm elections to begin with. This is a scenario I've seen in so many different countries where authoritarianism manages to find ways to destroy and undermine democracy. I mean, we may see fake elections or whatever, but I think the US is going to face some extremely dark times in the coming four years, in the coming decades. And we have to remember, of course, that Trump is only the symptom of something much deeper. US democracy was severely undermined for decades by money and gerrymandering. And while I do think that a good number of Americans are decent, democratic, freedom loving people, I think that there's an underbelly there that has taken up a lot of space, that has been enabled and allowed to bully others, that has grown in strength, and that also possesses weapons.

We cannot forget that there are 400 million weapons in private hands and circulation in the US, which is completely insane when you think of it. So, whatever happens in the US, I think it's likely to be pretty unstable or undemocratic in the coming years. In that respect, I think Canada would do extremely well or much better to prepare itself for such a scenario, not to mention the fact that it will always be better for us, especially in this world, especially when we take into account climate change, to have a stronger, more self-reliant economy and more friends than less.

I tweeted this 2 days before January 6th. It's infuriating beyond words that nothing has freaking changed. It didn't matter how accomplished or qualified Kamala was-- Trump's wealth and whiteness won out.

Like countless others, Trump's wealth and whiteness have insulated him from consequences and true accountability his entire life. He's engaged in corruption and committed crimes out in the open, and received no more than a slap on the wrist. Until that changes, nothing changes.

Trump should be facing severe legal, social, political, consequences right now: he faces next to none. That is why American democracy is broken. Not just the bad guys. But the so called good guys just spluttering in powerlesness and letting the fascists get away with it.

Elon Musk is who he has always been. That journalists and mainstream news organizations gave him the benefit of the doubt every step of the way is a damning indictment of how the press industry operates-- especially when it comes to client journalism and protecting access to the rich and powerful.

Paul Dawkins:
A rich white South African that hand-waves away racism? Imagine that. One glance at where Elon Musk is from, his upbringing, and how his family came to be rich makes the mountain of racism and discrimination allegations at Tesla far less surprising. He is who he has always been.

In August, it had to pay a Black former worker $1 million. Now an SF court has ruled he owes former worker Owen Diaz $137 million over the racist abuse he endured at work.

Nobody should be surprised that Elon Musk is taking a victory lap on Jordan Neely being murdered.

Tesla has been sued multiple times for fostering horrendously racist and abusive work environments-- especially towards Black people. This is who he is. He's not hiding anything.

4 years later, this old tweet from Elon's hellsite seems very relevant. Hopefully, Trudeau told Trump to shove it. There's nothing remotely humorous about Canada being annexed or threatened like this-- and let's be clear, this is a blatant threat.

"I wonder how much longer Trudeau can keep quiet about the hell Trump is stirring up in America. We're dependent on them for trade, have a largely unprotected land border, and their military dwarfs ours. Nobody is swooping in to save us if he starts eying our natural resources."
