Funny how the orange menace is unconcerned with Israeli or Russian influence… Also funny how he’s dismantling U.S. federal election protections while claiming to be alarmed by foreign interference…
Is the AI proof of life unconvincing? I’m a normie, but I’m unconvinced. Unsure who made this, but I laughed for about ten minutes.
Spending as much time by the ocean as possible this summer. Nothing brings me more peace, plus I sleep real good after several hours of salt air and sunshine—a win-win!
Seemed like a good time to revisit this, and not solely because I’m a glutton for [heavy nonfiction] punishment. Mostly because very powerful keep trying to destroy the world order. And for what? Sure ain’t happiness because nothing will ever be enough.
Sarah is among my favorite authors because she tells painful truths so beautifully. She breaks and warms my heart simultaneously. Like America. Something worth pondering on the eve of Independence Day.
Got the garden going a bit late this summer, but the raspberries are early, which usually means more berries in September. 😋
When you‘re maxed out on serious nonfiction (and have bitten down all your fingernails), you switch gears to a ridiculous bird book from your BFF.
No more stitches or cone of shame. She’s loving life. Good morning! ☀️
Hammock is put together and the fence is covered in pool towels, which means it’s officially summer in my backyard.
Just finished @lukeoneil47.bsky.social’s We Had It Coming and other fictions, and I kinda want to share these beautiful words with everyone I know and love.
We haven‘t had a stomach bug in years, so I guess it’s our turn. Everyone’s yawning this morning, and I’m washing like 15 blanket/towels/sheets. Bright side: These things usually pass quickly. Not-so-good morning. 🥱
Sweet pup graduated to a soft, inflatable cone. She looks like a grumpy passenger on a red-eye flight. Good morning? ☀️
Poor pup is stuck wearing the cone of shame for ten days after four sutures and six hours at the emergency vet. She escaped the yard, and I’m hoping she learned that not all doggies are friendly.
Today was a good day for the American oligarchs and a bad day for everyone else, but there‘s still beauty in the world. Here’s my sweet girl moving her tree frog friend to a cool spot for relief from today’s oppressively hot weather. Kid’s got a caring and beautiful soul.
Another mama snapping turtle on my morning walk. Seeing these cool creatures never gets old.
I wish this platform had an edit option because my typos drive me nuts, but I digress. From last summer:
Every year, snapping turtles make nests in my front yard. Was delighted to see this mama ambling over this morning. In about 90 days, my yard will look like Jurassic Park, and my youngest will be filling a bucket with 20-30 baby turtles and to bring to the pond across the road. 🐢
Maybe there’s a divine plan, but ’blessings’ doesn’t seem like the right word presently. That said, I enjoyed a great meal with one of my favorite people, so perhaps it’s a matter of perspective.
Unplugging today and going outside, but here’s my lovely doggie because everyone needs more pet pics. Unrelated: My kids call these throw pillows the “boobs pillows.” The pattern reminded me of flowers, but I can’t unsee it now.
Coming soon to a backyard near me: My absolute favorite flower in full bloom. Am I the only weird one who sets up umbrellas over the peonies when it rains?
