#WIPSnips been a minute since I shared a snipsnip so here we go, "unbothered" is in the same vibe zone as unfazed right?

ID: The Tri-Age War had run dry all the gentle places to live. Destroyed a fairy tale called Earth, painted a planet named for war red, and turned swaths of Oort Cloud ice into graveyards. Accord was how the TAU survived, with technology and carefully marketed hope.
August and July were removed from calendars to distance the TAU from ‘Earthian war ideologies’ and the year reset to zero upon the Armistice’s signing in the year 10,546 CE. It was meant to be a symbolic gesture, a promise leadership made to put down their swords before humanity went extinct. Invenium viam, find a way, a government to end all wars.
Days since last extinction event: zero!
It had lasted 126 years before the TAU was destroyed during the Emergence. It didn’t matter so much now if Earth had ever been real, the Bleed was too vast and dangerous to ever find out. The Sol System was a distant dream, not even their home star could be observed beyond the impenetrable wall that was the Bleed.
Sam’s wiry arms shook from his death grip on the handrail as a branch of Tower light swept over the elevator. Beside him, Blythe smiled, unbothered by the glow even as Sam shut his eyes to escape it.
Accord’s technology was everywhere; linkbands, the Tower, not-quite-faster-than-light drives keeping humanity in reach of the Cloud’s limited resources, and in the TAU’s devastation. All made, or unmade, with elysion, element 171, their own personal Pandora’s Box.

#Juniplex LMAO there is system wide rationing right now, and a majority of the food supplied to the military is bland dual-purpose food. They use jellyfish for water filtration & algae for oxygen production but also as food ingredients. It hits all your nutritional reqs but its not nice 1/2

ID: They were a proprietary variety bred by none other than Accord Weapons & Technologies. Long, red tentacles curled through the tank, leading to yellow bell ‘heads’ speckled with fuzzy black dots; Aqua Vitale. They were used Republic-wide for water filtration, and as a food source. There were a half-dozen different ways to make them palatable, most amounting to, “If you can still see the jelly, you haven’t seasoned it enough.”

Sp.E.A.R. had saved the Republic from annihilation in their early days, but Sam distrusted the Dragoons. He’d introduced himself to one too many new neighbors after the previous ones had been ‘invited’ to help with investigations.
He won’t believe me anyway. Sam popped his shoulder, it hadn’t felt right since Duras Point had been destroyed. No one else has.
“A song, a hymn. I couldn’t understand any words.”
“And you didn’t report it?”
“It was just a song…”
“Oh really? Just a song? Three hundred people are dead.” Blythe’s mustache twitched. “I recall the Pit using just a poem to start their first war.”
Ice roared outside.
“Even snowflakes shall weep for the sky and earth when dust rules alone,” Sam recited the poem on impulse.
“That’s the one. Don’t get their way”—Blythe gestured at the Bleed—“kill a few hundred million people. It’s Tuesday.”

Once released, Nikos exited the expressway onto streets lined with luxurious high-rises. After several turns that Sam quickly lost track of, they entered a wide, tree-lined street whose length set the TAU directly ahead of them, framed by skyscrapers. With every streetlight they passed, the windshield flashed, making it appear as if the pulse field were flickering.

ID: The pulse field survived. Sam thought it flickered, but it couldn’t have. People were screaming, and if not for its elysion-powered protection there would’ve been no air left for them to do so.
No amount of shade or water could stave off the heat. Sam’s lips sizzled when he attempted to wet them with his desiccated tongue. Air born particles popped like fireworks at all hours, keeping Sam awake, both from the noise and from the constant efforts required to sweep sparks off his body before they ignited him whole.
Voices that had once complained about him came back begging, confused, desperate for information, or mercy. They were Ground soldiers on a pulse-supported station, they didn’t have E.S.’s to stop the heat dripping down their throats, to save their skin from curling off their meat like deep-fried pigs.
Sam had tried to stay calm. “Angel, do you—”
Screaming was the reply. In a single instant—the time between a closed and open door—everyone had been dead or dying.
