Saw this on a different social media site and it’s absolutely perfect

The time has come to say Auf Wiedersehen. Tomorrow morning I will be on a plane with my family as we relocate to Newberg, Oregon, in the USA. The past four years have been a wonderful journey into DH. Thank you for teaching me, training me, nurturing me. Thank you for the friendships and mentorship along the way. I am grateful for you, and I will miss you. I wish you all the very, very best. And I hope our field only continues to grow. Until the next time, Auf Wiedersehen...

Nun ist die Zeit, „Auf Wiedersehen“ zu sagen. Morgen früh werde ich mit meiner Familie im Flugzeug sitzen, um nach Newberg, Oregon, in den USA umzuziehen. Die letzten vier Jahre waren eine wundervolle Reise in die DH. Danke, dass ihr mich unterrichtet, ausgebildet und gefördert habt. Danke für die Freundschaften und die Unterstützung auf diesem Weg. Ich bin euch dankbar und werde euch vermissen. Ich wünsche euch allen alles, alles Gute. Und ich hoffe, dass unser Fachgebiet weiter wächst. Bis zum nächsten Mal, Auf Wiedersehen...

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. We’re a put-Christmas-decorations-up-the-weekend-after-Thanksgiving kind of family. My kids think it’s magical. Maybe they’re right.

I love living in Germany. But sometimes (oftentimes?) the German language gets the better of me. Case in point? This sign. German is formal, reflexive: Fühlen sie sich sicher (“Feel you yourself safe”). English: Feel Safe.

This study explores how the American magazine The Delineator reflects the evolving representation of the 'New Woman' from 1894 to 1914 through its visual content. By employing artificial intelligence techniques, particularly CLIP, the research shifts focus from text to visual analysis, revealing insights into societal perceptions of femininity.

Karlstadt’s Reading of Augustine and His Development as a Reformer, 1517–1519

Current Position:

Alyssa Lehr Evans is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in Church History at the University of Göttingen.

Current Research Activities:

Evans’ current project is a study of Martin Luther’s works translated into English in the sixteenth-century. A detailed analysis of the translations, their contexts, and the actors involved offers insights into the English reception and adaptation of Luther, European networks of reform, and early modern translation more broadly.
