A beauty from METEOR M2-4. From a pass near Metro Vancouver, ending at 3 PM PT. Grok prompt I use on my images: Remove signal dropout lines and blurring, if any, using edit and add a small title bottom right "METEOR M2-4, 3:00 PM, VE7AFV, Vancouver, TA-1 antenna, Nooelec SDR/LNA"
Beautiful day for Metro Vancouver / PNW. METEOR M2-3, 10:45 AM, VE7AFV, Vancouver, TA-1 antenna, Nooelec SDR/LNA. As received and processed with my own ground station. From a pass to the east. @spann.bsky.social @paul-vk2ahb.bsky.social
Bit of an uptick for 20 m SSTV today, July 13. First image rolled in for me just after noon local. The last around 8 PM. Thank goodness for KG5JJ in Arkansas! I'm in Vancouver. MLA-30+ loop antenna, SDRplay RSPdx tuner.
NE Pacific crop from today's GOES-18 full disk "blue marble" shot at 2100 UTC / 2 PM PT. As received via 1.7 GHz radio signal with my own ground station here in Metro Vancouver (to the right of center in this shot). @spann.bsky.social
Today's afternoon beauty from METEOR M2-4, 3:45 PM, as the satellite passed nearly overhead for Metro Vancouver. TA-1 turnstile antenna, radio gear by @Nooelec. High pressure ridge firming up offshore, heating up. Sun glint off Pacific offshore from California.
A wide-reaching shot from METEOR M2-3, 10:00 AM, from my Vancouver-based ground station. Capturing Hudson's Bay and part of Lake Superior, and only a small snippet of Vancouver Island at the bottom left. Warming up here in the Metro area. @harryhat.bsky.social @weathergoddess.bsky.social
Rebound! First time in weeks to see solid SSTV signals from morning into the evening on 20 m / 14.230 MHz. First image rolled in a little after 6 AM local and last one a little after 9 PM local. Receiving in Vancouver via MLA-30+ loop antenna with @SDRplay RSPdx receiver. @ve7sar.bsky.social
Another beauty with the home ground station from METEOR M2-4, 4 PM, VE7AFV, Vancouver, TA-1 antenna, Nooelec SDR/LNA. From a pass W of Metro Vancouver (just right of centre). Mostly dry day on the south coast with thickening cloud cover in the afternoon. @natetwnclimate.bsky.social
Just "seeing" Vancouver Island and part of the West Coast. From METEOR M2-3, 10:15 AM, VE7AFV, and a pass far to the E of Metro Vancouver. From my home ground station with TA-1 turnstile antenna, and radio gear by @Nooelec.
Canadian PM Mark Carney airborne again on Canforce1, heading W out of Ottawa. Meeting First Nations leaders then on to the Calgary Stampede this evening.
Best image so far for me from RS18S, SakhaCube Cholbon, in the current SSTV series. Wih a fixed Yagi antenna aimed S and inclined at 30 degrees elevation. @SDRplay RSPdx controlled via SkyRoof.
This gorgeous shot was taken July 7 by Heidi Hass Gable from the Ladner Trunk Road in Delta BC. She has granted me permission to post it here. Particularly noticeable is the patch of iridescence at the lower left. Perhaps it resembles a plane, or a shark. You decide. @weathergoddess.bsky.social
Two beauties from the home GOES-18 station, both from around 2 PM PT today. A full-disk shot at or near maximum illumination, and a mesoscale shot of California and adjacent states. Very little in the way of wildfire action in these areas. @spann.bsky.social @weathergoddess.bsky.social
Amateur radio balloon DN3LEO putting on a show with its 20 m WSPR beacon. Here we see its signal reach over 24 h, and in image 2 we see its signal being picked up by my receiver, VE7AFV, in Vancouver. @n4jaw.bsky.social @ve7sar.bsky.social
HamClock really is a wonderful tool to have in any radio room. I keep two screens dedicated to HamClock. In the post-Elwood Downey era HamClock has been continued and added to by the people at ohb.hamclock.app. Kudos to them for all their work. @hamradiotoday.org @hamradioworld.bsky.social
METEOR M2-3, 10:30 AM, VE7AFV, Vancouver, TA-1 antenna, Nooelec SDR/LNA. Another beauty from a pass well E of Vancouver. A few showers in the Metro area this morning but warming up. @weathergoddess.bsky.social @spann.bsky.social
Here's the history of Vancouver AM radio station CJVB 1470, started in 1972, which closed March 2 2026. Unlike the closure of stations Sportsnet 650 and News 1130, the shutdown of CJVB drew little to no media attention. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CJVB @justingeographic.bsky.social
Keeping an eye on Vancouver's cruise ship terminal. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxJF...
Beauty! METEOR M2-3, 11 AM PT, VE7AFV, Vancouver; TA-1 antenna, Nooelec radio gear. Via 137 MHz radio signal to my own ground station. Beautiful day in the Metro Vancouver area. Signal dropout lines handled by @Grok. @spann.bsky.social @seattlewxguy.bsky.social
Stunning supercell with lightning stroke photo appearing on the web site of the Weather Centre of Manitoba today.
For much of the world the mere mention of Argentina conjures up the image of Lionel Messi, arguably the greatest football player of all time. Today, his country celebrates Independence Day, the 210th anniversary of the nation's separation from Spanish governance.
Another beauty from the home weather satellite ground station. METEOR M2-4, 3:25 PM, VE7AFV, Vancouver, TA-1 antenna, Nooelec SDR/LNA. Fine afternoon here in the Metro Vancouver area.
Amateur radio balloon, actually two balloons, putting on a show with their 20 m WSPR beacons. I'm picking up one of the two as it approaches North America from the west. Mapping in WSPR.rocks.
A bit of 20 m / 14.230 MHz SSTV struggling through here in Metro Vancouver today. It's been moribund of late. This station, using an MLA-30+, monitors 20 m SSTV and 20 m WSPR around the clock. The radio is an @SDRplay RSPdx.
Lovely shot via 137 MHz radio signal: METEOR M2-3, 11:30 AM, VE7AFV, Vancouver, TA-1 antenna, Nooelec SDR/LNA. From a pass to the west. Broken cloud in the Metro area. Cold air aloft for parts of W Canada. The turquoise coloration is ice/snow.

Some of the military/police aircraft action during the final FIFA World Cup match for Vancouver's BC Place Stadium (Switzerland vs. Colombia). The RCAF tanker is in place, along with a CF-18. No sign of the Black Hawks so far today.
Another nail in the proverbial coffin for AM radio. Vancouver-area station CISL 650 goes dark abruptly. Longtime "oldies" format station, in recent years home of Sportsnet and local hockey games.
Best coverage map so far for my basic APRS iGate. Using a Yagi pointing SE alnog the Fraser Valley E of Vancouver. The antenna feeds an SDRplay RSPduo which is controlled by SkyRoof. Data packets are handled by Direwolf and fed to the North American APRS server. @ve7sar.bsky.social
