White Sox hoping to avoid a series sweep vs. the Astros on the South Side today. With a Murakami bobblehead giveaway for 15,000 and Family Sunday, they’re expecting a full house.
A cloudy summer night on the South Side for the White Sox and Astros with first pitch 15 minutes away.
Looks like it’s going to be a beautiful night for baseball on the South Side as the first-place White So play host to the Astros in about 45 minutes. There will be postgame fireworks. Too soon to say if there will be any during the game.
I thought Jerry Reinsdorf didn’t approve of food talk on his White Sox telecasts. I guess the “Boomstick” and “Rally Nachos Sombrero” excite himnot to mention John Schriffen’s golf game too. (📸 Fort Worth Star-Telegram & Dallas Express)
Went to the Margo Feiden Gallery in the early '90s and nearly emptied my checking account to buy an original, but this signed/numbered litho spoke to me for all kinds of reasons. Published in 1955, it's a survey of early 1950s TV and hangs in a hallway. I often to stop to marvel. Alas, no Ninas.
Left, logo for Anthropic’s AI chatbot, Claude Right, Kurt Vonnegut’s drawing of an asshole in his 1973 novel, “Breakfast of Champions” Not only do they look alike, the same stuff comes out of it in either case.
Arriving late, I was stuck outside with the police officers in blue helmets riding horsies advising us to leave the area. The air was thick with the acrid smell of ‘70s weed, which is how weed is supposed to smell.
It’s a warm sunny day on the South Side as the White Sox and West Sacramento meet before heading into the All-Star break.
Former Madison Muskies star and steroid aficionado Jose Canseco (brother of former Muskie Ozzie Canseco) threw out a ceremonial pitch at today’s White Sox game. Flexed his bicep before he threw, too. We’ll see how well PEDs mix with Geritol, as Jose, 62, participates in a postgame Home Run Derby.
So long as some other team doesn’t draft a player named Paper, Roch was probably the way to go with the No. 1 draft pick.
It’s MLB Draft Day for the White Sox, who have the No. 1 pick and, in an hour on the South Side, take on West Sacramento.
Going to be packed on the South Side tonight for the West Sacramento and the White Sox. It’s Mexican Heritage Night. With a jersey giveaway, it took 45 minutes to get in the park — and by then no jerseys. Line still snaking around the block.
Mostly cloudy on the South Side for the Red Sox and White Sox this afternoon. They just played the late Bonnie Tyler’s “We Need a Hero” over the PA, which seems apt as the home team looks to avoid a series sweep. Otherwise, it’s a heartache.
It’s a warm night on the South Side, where the White Sox take on the Red Sox in about an hour.
Just a beautiful night for baseball on the South Side as the White Sox take on the Red Sox.
What the hell is the deal with this dateline? Does The Athletic stylebook now dictate datelines like “SMOOTHIE KING CENTER, New Orleans” for NBA Pelicans games, “ACRISURE STADIUM, Pittsburgh” for NFL Steelers games and “RATE FIELD, Chicago” for the MLB White Sox?
No one dared give him the “wrap it up” signal no matter how far off the rails he went.
