First, they invented "Hershey's Kisses and sugar. Then they made their own "cake" using sandwich bread as the cake. I had to melt chocolate candy melts for "frosting," in between the slices and on top. The top slice of bread had sugar on it as well. Then they added Hershey's Kisses.

This cake is made out of two slices of whole wheat sandwich bread, and the frosting (in between the slices and all over the top slice) is melted chocolate candy melts. A Hershey's Kiss sits upon each corner. You cannot see the granulated sugar that sits under the chocolate, on top of the top slice. My children invented this cake.

I just started reading Wild Faith by @swordsjew.bsky.social, and I spotted this book at CVS just now. I had literally never noticed stuff like this before??

On the one hand, I am very, very, very unhappy that my new doctor's office does 2 days of prep instead of 1. On the other hand, in the past two weeks, multiple people have told me they've had to reschedule because of failed prep. So at least this might prevent that from happening.

I refused to watch or let my kids watch Home Alone 2 on principle, but I guess the kids noticed it on streaming and begged to watch it. Spouse let them know Mom had said no, but 7yo realized that he could message me through GChat while I was at the store.

Finished product. I forgot how much I HATE frosting cakes??

A child's birthday cake. The cake is round with light purple frosting, and it says "Happy birthday Aiden!" in pink letters. There are two red balloons drawn in frosting, as well as Bluey and Bingo figurines stuck onto the cake. There's a number 5 candle and a blue and white striped candle, unlit.

Way back when, for Kid 1's first birthday, I learned how to do frosting transfers and made him a cake that was a play on those Usborne "That's Not My ..." book series. (I didn't realize I didn't have black food coloring until it was too late, forgive me.)

@rosannapansino.bsky.social My kids are currently interested in playing "chef," demanding to make "real food recipes," so we found a Nerdy Nummies recipe we could make on short notice/no time to go to Michael's. (Pink) Navi pops (free-handed wings) were a moderate success!

Three pink "Navi" pops--Nilla wafer cookies dipped in pink melting candy with little white candy wings--sitting on wax paper on a table. At least one of the pops looks moderately good, and the rest show off the truth of Mom's free-handed chocolate skills (not great).

We accidentally startled one in our backyard today! Much bigger than the bunnies we normally see. Both kids got to see it, so they were downright delighted.

Oh, I've read that story!

This is giving me flashbacks to my then-2-year-old's biblically accurate gingerbread men.

Two kids' plates, each with two gingerbread men cookies. The blue plate on the right has two more traditionally decorated cookies, although they've clearly been decorated by a young child. The green plate on the left is splattered with red icing that looks a little like blood, and the gingerbread cookies just have a bunch of candy eyeballs on them, stained with more red icing. It's hard to say whether or not they are more or less creepy given that a 2 year old child decorated them.

Finally got my 4-year-old to try drawing. He's very insistent that he can't (even though he does at school!) so I pulled out a classic Ed Emberley book and we drew a spider side by side. I am so proud of him, and more importantly, he's proud of himself!

My spouse bought me the menorah of my dreams about 10 years ago, and I love it so much, but it's entirely glass plus little metal inserts for the candles, cleaning it is a nightmare.
