Wonderful time at Brockholes spotting deer, egrets, sand martins and terns as well as butterflies. I let a couple of young girls look through my binoculars at the deer
I loved this portrait of Dante Gabriel Rossetti at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery last week. His liquid blue eyes seem to be looking into my soul. I also love the date, with time’s arrow underscoring it. #preRaphaelite #Birmingham
They do run fast! - and their legs are longer than people sometimes imagine. My local rescue is full to bursting with dehydrated little souls. My own garden has a series of visitors looking for water and biscuits every night 💕
And this, remarkably, has survived. A medieval wall painting showing the crucifixion, that was originally in the refectory, where the monks would have eaten. Alas, only the legs remain. An additional floor was added and the top of the painting lost for ever.
Another picture from our visit to Coventry. This is at the Charterhouse, where monks lived. It was then owned by Robert Dudley around the time he hosted Elizabeth I at Kenilworth. Perhaps her train of servants stayed here.

This Emerald moth I found in my bathroom shower tray a couple of weeks ago. I released it using a bug catcher and it promised to look after itself
A variety but mostly birds. I really like all his paintings but I went for the birds
Please put water out at ground level for wildlife this summer - you will be sure to save a life!
In 1986 I was studying for an English & French Lit degree, and reading News from Nowhere. My lecturer took us to Kelmscott and I bought a print for 50p and stuck it in a cheap frame. 40 years later, I’ve treated it to a decent frame, and I love it for the memories of a magical day
I met up with another lovely knitter from here @debbietknits.bsky.social last week for coffee, and I showed her my knitting and she showed me hers. Her knitting is as awesome as it looks on here. I wish I could knit like you, Debbie! 🧶
This is a great book about an autodidactic robot called Annie, and a regular man called Doug. You can probably imagine how it goes, but it’s really well done. In fact it won the Arthur C Clarke award.
