If you feel like discussing a random topic, get inspired by Henry of Ghent's Quodlibeta (8 qu. 5). From the binding of a legal MS in German (Greifswald, Universitätsbibliothek, nd. Hs. 22) resolver.staatsbibliothek-berlin.de/HSP000676370...
Binding fragment from a MS of the commentary on Aristotle's On the Heavens by Thomas Aquinas (I, 12) (Nürnberg, Germanische Nationalmuseum, Hs 42565) dlib.gnm.de/item/Hs42565
Petrus Comestor, Commentary on the Gloss on John: finetuning the identification. Rather nice hand, actually! (@ubleipzig.bsky.social, Jus.can.277-b) nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:b...
Binding leaves from a MS of Boethian logic: front pastedown from the translation of Aristotle's De interpretatione, rear from the treatise De topicis differentiis. Many readers' notes! (@jlugiessen.bsky.social, Hs 692) resolver.staatsbibliothek-berlin.de/HSP0006560D0...
Thomas Aquinas's commentary on Aristotle's Metaphysics turned out to be useful as lining for the cover of a valuable MS! Is it relevant that the leaves were taken from book 12? (@jlugiessen.bsky.social, 1106) resolver.staatsbibliothek-berlin.de/HSP000655C20...
Donatus, Ars maior. Fragment. (Copenhagen, KB, Fragm. 1339) digitalesamlinger.kb.dk/manus/vmanus...

Image from my presentation @imc-leeds.bsky.social. As far as I know, the only witness of this commentary on Aristotle's De sensu, with huge significance for the history of medieval Aristotelianism in Britain. (@stabiberlin.bsky.social, Yd 8865) resolver.staatsbibliothek-berlin.de/SBB0000E0EB0...
Pastedowns taken from a lectionary (10th c?). The nicely shaped letters deserve a closer look! (Vendôme, Bibliothèque municipale, MS 175) arca.irht.cnrs.fr/ark:/63955/m...
MS fragments with chant for today's feast of Saint Paul (and Saint Peter, obviously) (@unihalle.bsky.social, Ink Il 2196, 4°) nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:g...
I will not talk about this leaf @imc-leeds.bsky.social, although I might show it. If you are interested in MS fragments, medieval Aristotelianism, or Robert Grosseteste, join me at session 536! (@stabiberlin.bsky.social, Libri impr. rari qu. 191) resolver.staatsbibliothek-berlin.de/SBB00016D830...
Small strip from a MS that contained a collection of medical texts. Above the rubric ends a section from Celsus on the "carbunculus", the chapter below comes from Oribasius on "cancrus" (of the jaw) (@unileipzig.bsky.social, MS 926) nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:b...
MS waste from the gloss on the Bible book of Proverbs by Hugh of St Cher. Very regular mid-13th-c hand! (Rodez, Bibliothèque municipale, MS 7) arca.irht.cnrs.fr/ark:/63955/m...
Nice review of a book for which I was invited to contribute a chapter! Latin translations of Greek texts from the later Middle Ages constitute a very specific field of research. scholarworks.iu.edu/journals/ind...
Pastedown with the explicit of a question commentary attributed to Heynricus de Bruxella. The description by Matthias Eifler does not identify the text. On the vacant area, a table of contents for (medical) MS @unileipzig.bsky.social, 1215. resolver.staatsbibliothek-berlin.de/HSP0006285A0...
The final lecture of our FitMA series is now online! We hosted Marek Gensler and Monika Mansfeld (University of Łódź). They talked about "Editing Walter Burley’s Commentaries on Aristotle’s Parva naturalia", a fluid topic, as it turned out! hiw.kuleuven.be/dwmc/researc...
An hour or so ago, a Basel incunable of the works of Saint Augustine was hammered at 5000 €, tripling its lower estimate (1500-2000). These two early flyleaves may have been part of the attraction. Said to contain Isidore of Seville, but I am not so sure about that...
Pastedown taken from a MS of Albert of Saxony's Tractatus proportionum. Look at the table top left. Critical edition published, obviously, by H.L.L. Busard. (@unileipzig.bsky.social, MS 542) nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:b...
A 14th-c MS of "De claustro animae" coming up for auction in a few days' time. The low estimate of 1500-2000 € is likely to attract competition.
Two bifolia from a late MS of De Pomo, a pseudo-Aristotelian treatise describing the last moments of Aristotle's life in the manner of Plato's Phaedo. The Latin version is (no doubt wrongly) ascribed to king Manfred of Sicily. (@unileipzig.bsky.social, MS 1457) nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:b...
Fragments from a MS missal pasted onto the covers of an incunable (@uniheidelberg.bsky.social Bibliothek, D 9877 oct. INC) nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:b...

Reused in a binding: paper MS leaf from a commentary (anonymous?) on Albert of Orlamünde's Philosophia pauperum (Hannover, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Bibliothek - Niedersächsische Landesbibliothek, Ms XXIII, 932) digitale-sammlungen.gwlb.de/resolve?id=1...
Interesting trace of craftsmanship! Leaf with an unfinished initial, sketched in detail but not coloured. Recycled as pastedown in the binding of another MS. digital.wlb-stuttgart.de/index.php?id...
Two 14th-c bifolia from an Arabic astronomical treatise translated in Latin (Haly Abenragel, De iudiciis astrorum) recycled as pastedowns, one of them now detached from its board (@ubleipzig.bsky.social, MS 894) nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:b...
Intriguing! Within the same MS binding, two bifolia from different MSS of Thomas Aquinas's commentary on Aristotle's De anima III were recycled. Watch the initials! And the layout of the second one!? (Universitätsbibliothek Erfurt, Dep. Erf., CA 2° 193) nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:u...
Anthology from Aristotle's zoological works in the Latin translation by Michael Scot. Not identical with the one in Vat. lat. 3010, nor with any other florilegium that I have seen. (@ubleipzig.bsky.social, MS 1291) nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:b...
